Qatar Airways Network Changes W11

According to the GDS the following changes are taking place at QR's network. Most have been announced already, and some are new:

1) DOH - BEN flights start effective 01NOV with 4 weekly A320s

2) DOH - SIN increase from 13 weekly to 14weekly. The split schedule at SIN seems to be made for a new tag on to SIN.

3) DOH - SAH resumes with 4 weekly A320s after a temporary suspension

4) DOH - EBB to start from 02NOV using daily A320

5) DOH - PEK will increase from 4 weekly B77W to daily B77W from 19NOV

6) DOH - CKG to start from 28NOV with 3 weekly A332

7) DOH - FCO to increase from daily A330 to double daily (daily A330 + daily A320) from 01DEC

8) DOH - SYZ increase from 2 weekly to daily A320 from 01DEC and 3 additional flights form 01MAR

9) DOH - HKG will increase from daily A332 to 11 weekly A332 from 02DEC

10) DOH-BKK-HAN to increase from 4 weekly to daily B777 from 02DEC

11) DOH-BKK-SGN to increase from 3 weekly to daily B777, thus discontinuing the nonstop flights from 03DEC

12) DOH - MXP to increase from daily A330 to 11weekly (daily A330 + 4 weekly A320)

13) DOH - IFN (Iran) daily A320 to start from 11JAN

14) DOH - GYD daily A320 to start form 01FEB

16) DOH - TBS via GYD to start from 01FEB

17) DOH - IKA to go from double daily to triple daily from 01MAR

18) DOH - MHD to go from 5 weekly to 14weekly from 01MAR

19) DOH - KUL to switch from 14weekly A330 to 13weekly B777s

20) DOH - HKT to switch from daily A330 to daily B777

* Iraq flights (waiting for almost a year!)

* US west coast flights

* 4 weekly DOH - ACC expected to start

* One new destination in India and China could be announced according to their past press releases

* SUB as a tag on to SIN

* terminator to CPT

* LIS, BHX

They depart DOH at 1115 and arrive into PEK at 2350...are these timings attractive for passengers ending their journey in PEK itself? Is there public transport at that time from PEK to the city?

A 1115am departure from DOH means that they are reliant on GCC/EU/BEY/DAM mainly to feed the flight.

No but it would work out well for passenger traveling PEK-DOH, arriving early into DOH for the early morning connections to Europe, Africa and the middle east.

I recall reading somewhere once the new airport opens QR would like to introduce two connection waves in a similar connection concept to what EK uses. Thus they may have eventually two daily flights into PEK an early morning arrival and a late night one.

There's plenty of other arriving traffic at that time of night, mainly domestic though. Buses still running, and of course, plenty of cheap taxis! I think EK have a similarly timed flight, also going into Terminal 3.

A 1115am departure from DOH means that they are reliant on GCC/EU/BEY/DAM mainly to feed the flight.

Probably that feed would yield them more $$$ as those flights would depart from their respective stations at night from EU, thus giving the passengers a full day in Europe. Plus they have experimented the same timings on DOH - CAN, so I'm sure there is something positive about using that time slot.

What about DOH-GLA? This has been rumoured and the GLA and QR wiki pages have been updated to show this route starting 30 April. Scotland's First Minister was also in Qatar for the last few days discussing biz links. Not the most accurate source I know, but no smoke without fire and all that!

There is a regular government traffic between Brazil and Asian countries that QR could serve better than EK and TK.

I wonder why they discontinued the nonstop flights? Is it because of aircraft usuage or loads?

There's been rumours for quite some time that QR would launch a DOH-GIG-SCL service in 2012. But nothing has been confirmed.

That would counterattack EK's expansion in the region planned for JAN12.
