Well Birmingham City Council and Kraft/Cadbury have recently lobbied UA and the Chicago Aviation Commisioner for a return of a direct service between ORD and BHX.

AA last operated the route until 2002 using the 762/3.

Presumably a 752 would better sized for the route but there could be range issues? Can anyone shed a light on this?

It remains to be seen whether anything will come out of the talks, but I suppose it's nice to be hopeful.

Does BHX still have a strong BA presence? If so, either AA or BA could easily make it work with the AA/BA/IB joint venture. And even if BA has retreated at BHX, AA or even UA could still be able to make it work.

While on the subject of ORD and joint ventures, does anyone else feel that the Chicago Department of Aviation's JV with AUH (home of EY, which serves ORD-AUH) is deterring EK and/or QR from starting ORD-DXB/DOH? I would love to see more Middle Eastern carriers at my former hometown airport than just EY, but this CDA/AUH JV, plus EK starting DFW and SEA before ORD, makes me wonder...

I don't work for FWA, their tenants, or their ad agency. But I still love FWA.

Next week Volaris starts three new routes out of MDW to Mexico, MDW-MEX, MLM and ZCL.

So far this year MDW is doing great in passengers numbers. In September the airport handled 9.71% more passengers compared to September 2010. Passenger numbers are up 6.55% for the year. Looks like MDW will see a little over 18 million passengers this year.

Notable bits:
- About 75 percent of the graves blocking a new runway under construction at O’Hare International Airport will have been removed by the end of the week.
- The “cemetery runway,’’ as runway 10 Center/28 Center is informally called, is set to open in two years, followed next by a far southern runway in 2016 10 Right/28 Left, which will be built on the site of more than 400 homes that the city demolished in Bensenville.
- In some instances, relocating the dead has been an emotional nightmare as members of extended families who don't always know one another found themselves claiming the same ancestors, family members said.

The United States and the UAE have "Open Skies". Nothing is stopping EK from starting ORD.

Great news for those going through T5 at ORD. Well not so great in the coming months but T5 is to get new consessions after security. The interior of the terminals is going to be renovated. The renovations are do to be completed in 2013. Westfield will manage the consessions.

You can find the proposals from the other bidders on here. All are in large Pdf files. In there you will find Westfield's proposal with drawings of what it will look like.

Can't wait to see this project completed.

If Midway plans to handle more passengers in the future, they better get their act together and something about the appalling situation at TSA. After standing in line for 1hr 15mins. I missed my flight. It was a weds. morning, after school was back, ie no families to speak of, no holiday within weeks., and no weather delays The lines weren't moving slowly, they weren't moving at all!!!!After my inquiry I was informed that they weren't prepared for rhe numbers. What? BS. Airlines pass passenger numbers on several days in advance . When I pursued this with TSA, they admitted a larger number then usual called in sick. I told my story to the WN re-booking me and I was told this is normal, in fact sometimes the line backs into the garage. Ask whether or not WN can't make a protest, she said, "what good would it do". Shezzzzz

Ouch, that is a long wait.    The Chicago Department of Aviation a few years ago proposed building another walk way over Cicero. That was a few years back, ATA went bankrupt and nothing has been heard of since. WN their largest tenant at the airport needs to pressure the city to build or extend the walk way so their passengers don't miss their flights. Passenger numbers at MDW are up 6.5% for the year so far. I'm sure that number is bound to increase as WN connects more dots to MDW and with the arrival of the 737-800s.

From what I'm hearing the united cargo ramps(by taxiway N) are to be tore up by end of january, old fedex ramp is already tore up and now they started on the building, most of it is already demolished. I hear we are getting new cargo ramps by where Fedex is at now.

CX will fly the 748 five times a week starting march, in 2012 we should have 6 airlines flying in with the 748F. Hopefully LH with the pax version.
