Why Is Continental Not Buying More 737-700's?

Continental has said it will not order more 737-700's. Why? They have close to 60 737-800's and have 15
737-900's on order. Why no more 700's? There are
only about 40 in the fleet.

Too small. CO prefers the larger -800/900 size 737. When the time comes, the 733s and 735s will be replaced by the bigger NGs. Oddly enough however, Boeing mentioned in a recent press release that CO had five more 73Gs on order. If this is true, then the CO 73G fleet will expand from the current 36 to 41 in the next year or two.

What do you mean too small?

Does the 737-800 cost the exact amount to operate on and hour by hour basis if filled with say 100 people as a 737-700 does?
