WHAT IS THIS REPORT?
This compares what is for sale THIS WEEK for the stated period versus what was for sale LAST WEEK...It does NOT compare to last year or now (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED).

HOW DO I READ IT?
XXX-YYY DEC 4>5 JAN 4>5 ; means that the listed airline changed the frequency between the two airports to add from 4 to 5 roundtrips in December and January. No other months were changed. I only list one direction, although it is possible the listed change is only one way. It is too difficult to average the two directions. I assume the change is roundtrip and that is most often the case.

HOW ARE THE DAILY DEPARTURES CALCULATED?
This report uses total operations for the month listed, divided over the days in the month.

WHAT ARE THE FRACTIONAL FLIGHTS?
Non-daily operations create fractional weekly service. In most cases flights are rounded, but in the case of international service or markets with low frequency, fractions are shown. If a flight operated 5 days out of 7, it would show 0.8 flights.

WHY ARE THERE WEIRD FREQUENCIES IN FAR AWAY MONTHS FOR LCCs?
Most airlines publish schedules 11 months in advance. This report covers the next 9 months. That avoids seeing schedules as they are loaded. Several LCCs load their schedules less than 9 months into the future. Their schedules may also end mid-month. If B6 loads their schedule until Jan15, all flights in Janaury will show half frequency because of the way the report is created.

WHY IS A WHOLE AIRLINE'S SCHEDULE SHOWN AS CHANGING FOR A FUTURE MONTH?
Similarly to the previous question, some airlines load their schedule from nothing inside the 9 month window of this report. When their schedule is extended it will show as new service because there was no previous schedule to compare to. In some instances I will show a more valid comparison against another period.

THOSE FLIGHTS AREN'T DELTA, THEY ARE PINNACLE
This report only shows the marketing code. It is too complicated to show all the operators.

THE FREQUENCIES MAY HAVE CHANGED AS YOU SHOW, BUT THE SEATS DIDNT CHANGE BECAUSE OF EQUIPMENT SWAPS
That is a natural weakness of a frequency based report, but it provides something to discuss below.

THE FREQUENCY DOESN'T SHOW A CHANGE, E.G. 4>4
This happens as a result of rounding. There is a change in service that is large enough to be listed, but through rounding it does not appear.

I marked some of the ones I thought were interesting with an "*".

As some predicted, PMCO 737s to some routes at the PMUA hubs!

Looks like the PMUA Airbuses and 757s are coming to EWR!!!! YAY!!!!

Frankly, I wish they would just use one code and make it less confusing for me!

Frankly, I wish they would just use one code and make it less confusing for me!

I just would like to point out that pretty much all swaps on PMUA metal to PMCO hubs is all 319. There is no variation. Could this just be dummy schedules? (aircraft could change later on as we get closer to the date?

With the very poor loads on that route (sub-30%), I'd say that UA/CO will replace it with a daily EWR or IAH in short order. Or maybe if UA is feeling gutsy, they could launch SBN-DEN to beat F9 to the punch. (For those not in the know, F9 is interested in SBN-DEN due to SBN's recently awarded SCASD grant for DEN service.)

Virgin Atlantic adding a second LHR-SFO a few day a week. Nice to see that return.

Very interesting to see the mix of UA/CO routes adding up. Going to be seeing a lot more 737's at SFO. And finally UA going daily SFO-PVR/SJD. About time, to bad it took VX coming into the market to spur this on.

As expected...so to cite only one of lots of examples, the so called CLE "hub" referred to so primarliy only by a.netters at this point, will offer 2 CLE-MCO flights a day in May if I read above correctly, at $324 roundtrip nonstop on Expedia with the cheapest connection at $318 as of this writing, while WN offers a non-hub operation of 4 daily CMH-MCO, $280 roundtrip nonstop cheapest on the WN website as of this writing

To be fair though, Expedia shows 3 CLE-MCO for same time frame...May-June and the fare being charged is entirely reasonable.

But a.netters continue to threaten the imminent demise of the CLE "hub" to the likes of what's happened to CVG with it's similar 3 daily CVG-MCO flights for the same time frame at $514 nonstop roundtrip and the cheapest connection flight at $374 at this point on Expedia.

That's gouging and it all simply shows what a messed up industry this is with passenger "service" being the last thing on a legacy carrier priority list, it's all about devotion to the chosen few megahubs at the least cost and at the expense of other markets so they can link any and all city pairs they can.

Ok - you see the UA changes when you attempt to book them. They are not reflected in the timetable section. They are using dummy '319' aircraft - just as CO uses the 738. Some of those routes from IAH and EWR I could see being a mixture of 319/320/752...and hopefully 76 or 77 on the routes like IAH-EWR/LAX/LAS.

I wouldn't put much faith in the G4 OAGs. They seem to change routes all the time, I wouldn't be concerned about that cut until you can see what actually shows up on their schedule when they update it.

I actually put zero faith into purported Allegiant schedules in OAG. FWA management told me once that G4 does not release their schedule data to third parties like OAG. Period. Any G4 schedules that you see from a third party source and not from G4 themselves are estimates or guesses.

CO is going to fly Boston-LAX (1x) and Boston-SFO (3x) in ADDITION to the UA flights in those markets?

I know it's essentially one airline, so I'm not sure why we see both CO and UA listed.

Does this mean MORE flights between Boston and LAX/SFO or just a simple redistribution of the ones already there?

Look at CLE-LAX. It says UA is adding three, but I can't see CO pulling any. That would mean 5 or so trips per day.

Some of these swaps look like added utilization on one carrier or the other due to aircraft availability or total crew time available. I see 2 ORD-SNAs going CO and 1 EWR-SNA going UA. Wonder about aircraft types.

As a former CO employee, I love the ORD-LAX additions - reminds me of the 747 and DC10s in the 1970s. I'm sure these will be 737 or at most 753s.

If that's real it's a big deal for CLE. Frankly, I hate this mess they have with their schedules. If it would solve the problem I would just combine it all under the UA code and be done with it, but because they don't file reciprocal schedule changes at the same time it would still be a cluster. I mostly ignore their schedules as a result until they go to a single code.

Well, let me walk the fence on G4. The schedules in OAG are actually from G4. Last year Wall Street convinced them to file schedules. You have to remember that GDS is not the only use for OAG schedules. Plenty of people do what we are doing with them and everybody wants to keep Wall Street happy. Wall Street analysts use them to measure industry capacity changes to predict earnings. They were peeved at Allegiant for not publishing a schedule and now they are. Whether it is accurate or not is a different matter. I have no idea. I'd assume it is accurate, but not updated in a timely manner so you get huge changes all at once rather than incremental changes like the other airlines, but that is speculation.
