Does anybody know when Thomson Airways are due to receive their first 787?I read an old article on the internet saying January 2012,but i guess this is way off the mark given the delays?

Didn't they cancel their 787's?? They do not appear on the 787 customer list anymore. TUI has 13 on order, but Thompson nill.

No, the TUI order includes Thomson Airways. They will be delivered late 2012 early 2013.

January 2013. Boeing said they could have them June 2012 however that's slap bang in the middle of summer season and there'd be no use for them as there would be no time for training/familiarisation of crews. So Thomson pushed it back and I think we'll see the dreamliner on TOM routes in Summer 2013.

Nothing, they will stay as they are until they leave the fleet. First Choice is still a brand being used by Thomson so the expense cant be justified.

Thomson were going to launch their refreshed livery with the 787 - now that its being pushed back, is there any chance we'll see the new colourscheme before the 787?

I believe their refreshed livery was a slight change to the TUI smile and a change to the font and positioning of the words Thomson Airways beneath it? That was launched and is now seen at airports. Are you referring to something bigger? I havent heard of a new livery.

If a new livery was being brought forward then I imagine the 738s being delivered this winter and into next year will be the prime candidates for it?

It seems an expensive nice to have though in these difficult times

No. TUI Travel PLC based in the UK owns all the TUI Airlines. This includes Thomson Airways, Tuifly Nordic, Tuifly, Arkefly, Corsairfly and Jetairfly. The TUI group still also has shares / links with Neos and Jet4you.com

Thomson Airways will be the first airline in the group to recieve the 787's. This will be followed by Arkefly and then Jetairfly.

You will most likely be on one of these ex-FCA aircraft. There are no plans to change any of the livery on these aircraft as they will be leaving the fleet within the next couple of years as theur leases come steadily to and end. They will however be recieving a minor cabin refresh to keep them in shape for the longhaul flights until the 787s arrive. This includes changing the economy seat covers (still at 7-abreast) to the standard blue Thomson/Tui leather, new curtains, refreshed bulkheads and of course a deep clean.

No the plan is still to introduce a modified livery with the introduction of the 787. This as well goes for new crew uniforms and ''new'' airport experience options. Some of the 757s that are due in for a major check soon and those staying with the airline for a couple more years or more will recieve the current standard Thomson/TUI livery.
From a comment on another forum, the rest of the fleet (manily the large fleet of 737-800s) is now planned to just have the ''fly.com'' titles removed to standardise the livery.

It is still in the planning stages and would still need to be approved for a fleet wide renewal anyway. However, if you look at the bottom right of page 37 of 58 of the PDF Inflight brochure, you can see a slight indication of what it may look like. There are other examples very similar to this on the internet but I am struggling to find them as they are inside pages etc...

Basically the livery I have seen on a larger scale picture is similar in style to the above. It does ofcourse though have the current TUI smile logo on the tail, with the blue ''Airways'' titles applied in the white section below the blue curve.

Also on that other site is the little nugget:

I believe the 787s are about to slip another 3 months. Something to do with the unbundling, repacking and sorting out of the huge backlog of frames at Everett, plus the GE donks not meeting spec sold...

Rgds

So I drive a 4x4. So what?! Tax the a$$ off me for it...oh, you already have... :-(

This was to part of the original 2012 arrival plan. However as Thomson now want to receive them in January the following year there should be no further delays from Boeing to the first TUI delivery... I do think they should have chosen RR engines anyway but thats personal opinion.
