Now that they have called off merger talks, what do you think will happen? Do you think UA will look for other airlines to gobble up?

I guess that all the airlines in the US will have enough work solving their own problems. A merger wouldn't really help them with that...

I think UA will focus more on the Star Alliance in order to keep making profit. US Airways is the one with problems. They really wanted to merger with UA in order to survive, US Airways still isn't a member of an airline alliance, so I guess they now have to search for that.

The scumsuckers (Wolf and Gangwal) at US will continue to find a way to kill the airline and make a personal profit off of it. That is all they are after.

The collective braintrust at UAL will continue to run the airline into the ground pursuing things that have nothing to do with the core business and taking away the amenities that keep its high fare paying passengers on the planes. This will happen until finally Goodwin and Dutta are kicked out, and someone comes in who knows how to run an airline. I really hope that this occurs soon, because it would be sad to see yet another figurehead in US aviation disappear.
