Anyone knows who is Atlas Air leasing B763s to? Noticed an ATLAS B763 passenger version at a gate in Miami for 2 nights in a row. I heard ATLAS was flying B763s passenger charters from IAH to Angola. Interesting venture, any specfics about ATLAS passenger services?

There has been an Atlas 763 here at IAH recently though. Its not uncommon to see 3-4 Atlas birds at IAH. Typically 2 gold schemed Houston Express 744s for the IAH-LAD and then typical painted 744s - and the 763.

Atlas took over from World on the Sonagol "Houston Express" flights. World had the scheduled charter contract for years before Atlas.
I know with World you could earn United FF miles, not sure if you still can with Atlas.
The IAH-LAD route is for the Oil/Energy industry. Houston's big airport code should be OIL

When I was flying with KLM Cityhopper FRA>AMS on my way to ABZ in August, a complete Atlas crew was flying on the same flight, dead-heading back to Houston via Amsterdam. They were a very lively bunch! From what they were saying, I understood that they had flown into Germany the day before on a troop charter to the AFB at Ramstein where another crew had picked up the aircarft and continued to Middle East.
