Air Caraibes (TX) will get rid of its sole E190 by the end of 2012, keeping only their 3 ATR72'-500s on the regional routes & also planning on adding a new ATR72 (a -600 serie).
Pilots on the regional are not too happy about that decision (especially captains) cause the airline wants to transfer both captains and first officers as first officers on the A330's.
A group of them decided to launch a new airline by the 1st quarter of 2013 using 2 B-737-700's based in PTP to fly the current routes operated with the E190 (PTP, FDF, PAP, SDQ, CAY, BEL, HAV).
They are in talks with politics of Guadeloupe(PTP), Martinique(FDF) & French Guyana(CAY)
For now, the name kept for this new airline is : FRENCH CARIBBEAN AIRLINES.
As a reminder, TX has 3 ATR-72-500s and just received on the 25th of NOV a brand new A333 (F-HPTP) with a new business class (Madras Class), with a total of 5 A330s (including one -200)
They're adding a 2nd ORY-PAP(Haiti), a 3rd ORY-SXM, a 4th ORY-CAY / Weekly
To be continued ....
New business class (Madras Class) 25 NOV 2011
Warm colours !
Sleep tight !
their 5th A330 (4th A333) F-HPTP received 25NOV2011

This will be interesting to see how it pans out. I wish the pilots the best of luck in creating the airline.

Can't say this is a story that you hear much about, still as has been said above; best of luck to the pilots in starting their airline and I hope it works.
On another note; I must say the Air Caraibes colour scheme looks really good on an A330, as does their new Business Class - though from the pictures I am guessing the bed isn't 180 degrees lie flat?
Kev.
The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only

I must say those colours are probably my favorites ! But you are right," Madras class" seats are 160°(and not 180); we have to keep in mind this is not a real buisness class; it is a S class which will be the "Alize class" for AF on the COI -Caribbean Indian Ocean- routes.
There is no market for real business Class "J" on these routes

Local politics will probably be given money for this project, cause they will not leave AF (with their 2 A320s) having the monopoly again and of course raise the fares;
Although Air Caraibes might operate PTP/FDF to CAY with the A330 (ORY FDF CAY and ORY PTP CAY like they did before) or send the ATR72-500s and the new -600 to CAY ( I used to work this flight from 1996 to 1998 with the ATR72-300s: FDF-CAY in 4Hrs iso 1hrs50 with a jet; Air Caraibes then was Air Guadeloupe; this was one of the longest, maybe THE longest commercial route in the world using an ATR72)

Quoting viasa (Reply 1): How easy is it to "upgrad" pilotes from the PTP based Air Caraïbes to the ORY based Air Caraïbes Atlantique?
You cannot just imagine how tough the relationship between the two airlines can be; recently an email from Air Caraibes Atlantique HR was sent to HR in PTP (Guadeloupe) stating that some pilots who came from the regional to fly the A330 were too old and not in shape enough;asking them to avoid submitting people like this for the A330... It seems that they are firing this person from HR
