After 2 1/2 years of storage the last-built 744 freighter, originally ordered by non-starter Loadair, is finally entering service. See who has taken delivery today:

No news of its sistership though which is still stored. Maybe its going the same way, which would make a lot of sense.

Kalitta Air, remarkable, can they afford such an aircraft, the lease rate must be really attractive.

Is this the first ever factory new aircraft Kalitta received?

Operating a twin over the ocean, you're always one engine failure from a total emergency.

I´m pretty sure it is.

Loadair surely paid some millions when they ordered the plane (even if the owner is a leasing company). That money has been written off, so I´m sure the value of the plane is down in the books.

I'm under the impression that the aircraft went to KZ. Would that one be line #1418?

ln.1418 went to KZ after CargoBs collapse.

1416 is still parked----only 1419 has left.

Are these all B-747-400ERFs, or -400Fs? I thought the last 5 off the line were all ERFs and the 8 prior to these were all Fs, which went to UPS.

Connie won't touch anything unless it was a great deal.

Connie is a MASTER at the "art of the deal". I'm sure he bargained hard for a good price. Glad to see my Kalitta buddies will be sporting around in a "NEW" jet.

Thanks for the info. It would have been odd if not.
