I actually had to look up what that airport code was as im sure tons will need to. Its Phoenix Mesa airport.

Spirit has quite a few times picked the bigger airports like MCO, LAX, O'hare, LGA, BOS over smaller and cheaper options but im sure they have a strategy.

I would be surprised if any more airlines start IWA in the short term. The current terminal is quite crowded with just G4 using it. I flew out of AZA last August on a G4 flight , and in addition to my flight there were about 4 other flights set to depart as well. The terminal just didn't seem very well laid out for that many people.

If you look at AZA-FLL right now in May, some of the days you essentially pay taxes only ($0.01 fare) - and you don't even have to be a member of the $9 fare club. A transcontinental deal for $46 r/t seems too good to be true!

Are they going to take a DFW-LAS freq away. Those flight numbers are currently they late night dep and return to/from LAS.

NK could use that logic by using HUF to serve both IND and CMI/BMI without paying IND's (high) rates or suffering from Central Illinois airport fragmentation.

Yeah, it's a wet dream (for now), but NK has done strange things in the past...



I don't work for FWA, their tenants, or their ad agency. But I still love FWA.

Then again, service to those airports was started before the adoption of the ULCC odel.

Additionally, ACY also serves Philadelphia, TLC serves Mexico City, and OAK serves San Francisco. It looks like they're taking a page from the Skybus playbook by focusing on alternate airports. Fortunately, they're actually making money at it!

Perhaps if it does well, it will be upgraded to a nonstop flight. LAS-FLL is another route that is currently only served via DFW.

After the thread the other day about MYR offering subsidies to IND I was thinking NK might be able to take the MYR subsidies to start IND and quickly add RSW (a route I think WN will give up as it takes over FL). But that's a different discussion.

NK operates FLLLAS non-stop most of the year, flight 777.

Many LCCs around the world have them in this configuration. Still, you're entitled to not fly them.

Not it's not, if you are flexible about when you travel and if you don't require further add-ons. For example, I would try very hard not to take checked luggage and I would ensure my carry-on fitted beneath the seat in front. Of course, if that's impossible, you'd have to pay those fees. The point, of course, is to determine, based upon what you want or need, what the total to pay amount is compared to alternative offerings, together with schedules, duration, comfort, FFP, whatever.
