The last two days LH sent an A 340-600 instead of their A 380-800.
Is LH having troules with their A380 ? Is this a permanent dowgrade? How was the load factor?

I just hope this is not a permanent downgrade!

When I said the last two days I am refering to Friday 12/9 and 12/10.

I'm booked MIA-FRA on Jan 10th and the Lufthansa website still shows the A380 as it was supposed to be.

There was a thread about this a little while back, this is only going to happen for a couple weeks in December. It is kind of surprising that LH would downgrade for Christmas though.

I was slated to fly LH MIA-FRA-ADD but changed it instead to MIA-JFK-IST-ADD on TK (AA to JFK) in their new Y+
I would have been bummed out to fly the A346 instead of the A380 since that was the main draw for me.

I saw it landing earlier this week, like on the 5th of December, on final when I was out at International Mall in MIA near the airport. At first I thought maybe it was an IB flight, never thought it would be LH but then she came floating over the mall parking lot and I saw the livery. I thought then maybe it was an additional flight, or one-time sub.

While I am taking a stab in the dark here, it is probably something as simple as a maintenance visit.

It is for one week only. As a promotion, Lufthansa is flying the A380 on JFKMUC for one week. The 380 comes from MIAFRA.

Mah4546 said it correctly. The 380 flies MUC-JFK 6th through 12th December, then back on the MIA run.
Summer schedule MIA will be back on B744 as the 380 will be used for SFO...

While I like the A346 a lot I would be very disappointed if I am expecting an A 380 and I end up in a 340.

Thanks guys!

Well, actually I flew FRA-MIA Sun 28 Nov on the LH A380, and back on last Sat it was the above mentioned A346. Of course, flying on the 380 the first time was quite a thrill, but I have to say that the passenger comfort at whole almost was a bit better on the return flight with the A346. By the way, LH at all was a pleasure, they have improved their service a lot in the last couple of years; I flew with them only occasionally, most flying was with Delta. Only my 2 ct.

Best regards

Frank

OMG - nearly had a heart attack. I'm routing YYC-YYZ-MIA-FRA in F just to get the A380 (on December 23)... Breathe...

Haha, that would've sucked!
I think you're good on the A380. I'll likely be flying MIA-FRA on Dec 12, hoping it's an A380 as well. But if it happens to be an A346 I wouldn't mind, because I really like the LH product on A340. Only negative is that they do not have the outside cams, which I very much enjoy on the A380...

Yup - would have been awful. It's more for the F in the 380 being special - F on the 346 is the same as 343 333 etc. so it would have been a very sad day...   In Y I would have been less disappointed, in C about the same (although it's the same C). Plus, you do get stairs on the 346 too...
