We have been forced to take down the live chat as the server it was running on wasn't capable of handeling it. We'll have it back up as soon as we find a better server.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Now I'm not really sure if the admin. will approve of this, but I would be happy to offer my chat room as a temporary substitute. You could come on all the time or just till the ailiners.net chat is back. I don't know what you guys think but you can try it if you want. Oh yeah, it's an aviation website.(incase you wanted to know.)

Can we just go into the channel #airliners on either UNDERNET or EFNET? Use the program mIRC32 (an IRC client) downloadable for free at www.mirc.com

Access737, Ace, Thai...where are you guys?

I have not been able to access the chat room since it changed to "Java".

I hope the new chat room has nothing to do with "Java". Maybe we can all participate then.

Hey all,

Ok..since the chat room is still down, let's designate a temporary server. I was thinking that we could use the channel #airliners on EFNET network. Basically, we are going to use IRC (Internet Relay Chat)

To join the chat...

1) You need to download an IRC program. I use mIRC, downloadable for free at www.mirc.com.

2) After you installed it, choose an EFNET server. It doesn't matter which EFNET server you choose as long as it says EFNET. Not all of them will connect. I usually connect to the EFNET server "irc-w.frontiernet.net". If none of them connect, you can make up a new server. You can find a list of all EFNET servers by doing a search on the web on "EFNET servers".

3) After you have connected to the EFNET server, type "/join #airliners" (without the quotes)...and start chatting.

Anything to add or correct?

Macintosh users will find that mIRC is not available for Mac OS. The most popular IRC client seems to be IRCle http://www.ircle.com, but I personally prefer Snak http://www.snak.com.
