Hello,

I tried to reply in the original topic, however, for some reason the "reply" option does not show up.

Either way, sources inside the company confirm that SP-LPC "Gdansk" will be written off, as some members have previously speculated. Unfortunately, the insurance company determined that repair cost exceeds the value of the aircraft.

I immiadetely thought this would be a writeoff due to fuselage scrape, bent wings and damaged engines, but when the first reports spoke of "surprisingly little damage" I was surprised too.

Thank you for the information.

What's the final veridict on the "pop circuit braker" or how is the investigation going?

Do they have a replacement yet? Does the insurance company provide one? I assume to maintain their schedule they had to lease or charter a replacement right?

They leased a 767 from Aerosvit, which started flying LOT flights very soon after the incident.

I scratch my head, therefore I am.

Small correction, SP-LPC is actually "Poznań."

I wonder if leasing a 767 from Aerosvit is a sustainable long-term solution. Surely VV will need the aircraft for their summer season, as will LO... and the first Dreamliner isn't slated to arrive until Q4 2012 at the earliest.
