Here's a wonderful video from earlier this month. I walked through it in person and it was just amazing what all the volunteers did. Video starts in the F cabin.

Every year UA "flies" thousands of underprivileged and sick kids around the holiday season on a fantasy flight. Basically the kids board at one gate they taxi around for a while with the shades drawn ( I think they have actually gone flying in the past) and they arrive at the north pole which is another gate decorated for the holidays. Gifts food ect are donated.... They do this at all of the hubs and quite a few of the outstations.

That's pretty cool. I think they should keep all that cabin interior decoration up all through the holiday season! LOL

Keeping the "civil" in civil aviation...

United used to do one out of MHT with a 757. They would actually fly around for about twenty minutes or so before returning to the "north pole". The flight would travel up to PWM then head south to BOS then return to Manchester. But that was back when MHT saw multiple 757s from United.

It's an entirely different kind of flying; all together!

I realize that taxiing a 747 full of kids to nowhere is an expensive venture in and of itself---let alone actually flying in the air. However, that said, there are still some fantasy flights---in UA colors---that actually do get airborne.

SkyWest did a North Pole Fantasy Flight out of COS a couple of weeks ago and it included a 30 minute flight.

The SFO fantasy flight did go flying. They went down the coast to San Luis Obispo at around 5000' and back to SFO. FYI.

In clear weather, that's quite a nice view down past Big Sur, Morro Bay, etc.

Wow, just when I was about to loose my faith in the magic of this holidays, I see this video. What a wonderful and awesome experience for the kids. This is after all a holiday for kids, and I am amazed that all this takes place. What a wonderful share, Thanks. I would have loved to see the faces of them enjoying the experience. Hope this kind of giving spirit never ends. (Hope Mrs Claus got off the cell before the kids got onboard)
