Now I know that every poll is different, this is just another, but hey, it is a cool location to land a plane.

"Barra airport in the Outer Hebrides came top of a global poll of pilots and travellers beating the likes of St Barts, the Maldives and Gibraltar."

I notice that there was no mention at all of who it was that decided that it was the most scenic.

Personally I disagree!

I definately disagree too. Although it is a lovely part of the world and landing on the beach looks fun (I'm flying up there next year), I can't agree it's more scenic than flying over the Maldivian Atolls then landing on the Indian Ocean and taxiing up to an island. I did that in September and it was the best place I've ever been to, and the most novel way of getting their. That beats Barra in my book, although there's no doubt it's a lovely place.

Must be hundreds of places in Norway that must be far more scenic and more dramatic to land at ... ?

Stupid report and I fear they've just made it up. Barra is nothing spectacular at all as far as scenery goes. Just looks like 90% of all other beaches on remote coastlines around the world.

Here's the whole list.

I am surprised SXM comes last.

This is pretty funny indeed. There is not even a sliver of blue ski in this video. How often is it sunny in the Outer Hebrides?

Plus crappy weather....

Here is another Barra that beats this one hands down.

Thank you MadameConcorde for the leg work.

I have to agree with most of you, Barra would not be on my list, how about a floatplane landing into a sunset under the Golden Gate Bridge.

More than welcome.

I am surprised they don't have the Seychelles (Mahé) airport in the list.
Rarotonga is another one...

Paro Bhutan, in a different category...

I hope they will do a 20 airports list next time.

Oh, no no no. It is perfectly genuine.

In fact they've polled every last inhabitant and pilot of Barra island, and they were unanimous.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit posting...
