Quoting readytotaxi (Thread starter): "Barra airport in the Outer Hebrides came top of a global poll of pilots and travellers beating the likes of St Barts, the Maldives and Gibraltar."
I definately disagree too. Although it is a lovely part of the world and landing on the beach looks fun (I'm flying up there next year), I can't agree it's more scenic than flying over the Maldivian Atolls then landing on the Indian Ocean and taxiing up to an island. I did that in September and it was the best place I've ever been to, and the most novel way of getting their. That beats Barra in my book, although there's no doubt it's a lovely place.

Stupid report and I fear they've just made it up. Barra is nothing spectacular at all as far as scenery goes. Just looks like 90% of all other beaches on remote coastlines around the world.
"Private jet hire booking network PrivateFly.com conducted a poll among travellers and pilots to find the world's 10 most scenic airports to land at."
Thank you MadameConcorde for the leg work.
I have to agree with most of you, Barra would not be on my list, how about a floatplane landing into a sunset under the Golden Gate Bridge.
you don't get a second chance to make a first impression!
