First of three prototypes prepares for the next phase toward certification

ão José dos Campos, Brazil, December 26, 2011 – Embraer rolled out its newest executive jet, the midsize Legacy 500, last December 23, from the production hangar at the São José dos Campos headquarters, in Brazil. This milestone rollout will allow development and test engineers to perform important ground tests, prior to the aircraft’s first flight, which is scheduled for the third quarter of 2012.

Very nice. There is a picture in that link, though it's not the best angle. Looking forward to seeing this plane with some colors and flying around!

This is a pretty nice looking plane. It falls behind a bit in terms of performance compared to its super-mid-size competitors (Challenger 300, Gulfstream 280), but it's got a very spacious cabin, which will probably make up for a lot (though the Falcon 2000S annihilates everyone else in the cabin size category, but it's a much larger plane that's been toned down quite a bit). I do hope Embraer does well with it, because I'd certainly like to fly this cockpit:

Incidentally, this is the second non-airliner bizjet to feature a sidestick instead of a yoke (the first being the Falcon 7X).
