9V-SYC has been wfu from the fleet and was handed over to Transaero, the second 773 after 9V-SYA in November.
Wonder how long SQ will keep its other 773s. In a few years they´ll be gone, most of them likely been replaced by 77Ws I would think.

9V-SYD had also been parked and will soon be transferred to Transaero as EI-UNM. 9V-SYB will be the next one, to be registered EI-UNP.

I really hate Transaero.. :S They took away SQ 's great condition planes and yet they want a codeshare with SQ on IAH-DME , I think they are going slightly too far. :S

I was under the impression that the 10 x 773 were being kept after refurb. Is this because they cannot move the 772ER? If they replace them with the 330/380 on the SIN-PEK, I will be happy.

You cant hate a Airline for buying some Aircrafts that are being sold by a Company (in this case SQ)

I would say that the B777's will be in good hands after in Service with SQ. Just arriving back from Moscow I saw that there where B772ER's that where in very good condition!! And soon will be on a TSO777 to Vietnam and can tell you more about it!!!

Are these lease returns? Or has SQ simply found a willing buyer?

I flew with 9V-SYC back in 2005. There's a trip report here on a.net:

I'm flying a refurbished 773 from DXB to SIN on January 28 - if these birds are going, I'm even happier to be able to step aboard one.

I will be taking my first 777 flight in February from SYD - SIN on a SQ 777-300, I found out that it is on one of these non-ER versions. Glad to be getting a ride on one before they go, I believe they only have around 7 left in the fleet.

Not much to worry about. Only 5 773s (9V-SYA to SYE) are slated to leave or have already left the fleet. The remaining 773s (9V-SYF to SYL) have had their cabins refurbished and should remain in the fleet for the forseeable future, so there'll be plenty of chances to fly them.

Are all 5 being sold to Transaero?

According to http://www.ch-aviation.ch, Transaero will be getting at least four of the birds, from 9V-SYA to 9V-SYD. I don't know who is getting 9V-SYE. It could be Transaero, but I haven't seen anything to confirm that.

I definitely plan to! I'm flying PER-SIN-AUH DXB-SIN-PER with SQ - I'm flying J and my friend is in Y so I'll be able to report on the best of both worlds.
