-787/350/380 orders

After the armenian nonsense passed the parliament 2 weeks ago in france, I read somewhere that as an enforcement to France, the Turkish Government is thinking about not ordering any more Airbus aircraft for THY. I think this was in Hurriyet.

anybody came across that?

Happy new year to everyone from sunny Belgrade. Turkish Aviation thread is definitely the most interesting one on this forum and it's always a pleasure to read the updates.

Quoting TK787 (Thread starter):
-Finnair left IST

This has always been a thing I could not understand, how earth an airline like Finnair could not make IST work?

On a side note, I think that Turkish aviation market has become so interesting simply because TK has become what it is today.
Up until recently chances of TK competing effectively against the well established European and Gulf carriers was slim. However, today the situation has completely changed and Turkish Airlines has certainly made the whole region more interesting.

I would also like to add that Jat Airways will be increasing Belgrade-Istanbul-Belgrade from 4 weekly flights to daily operations. They will be using their B737-300 on the route.
Flights are scheduled to depart Belgrade at 09:35 three times per week, arrival time 12:15. Four weekly flights will depart 16:15 with the scheduled arrival time to Istanbul at 18:55.

Поздрав!

TK787 What an amazing recap thank you as always.
Happy new year to all my anet friends!

Few opinions on the issues you brought up on your recap;
I feel like the 787/350 decision will never happen. I give up
I really hope UA starts EWR--IST its always great to have competition, and a market as big as IST deseves more than 1 US carrier. Having said that how is DL doing with 2 777W's on the route to compete with?
IST airport? When will they decide? A new airport or extend IST. I think with being able to take away air force space I rather them expand IST.

Now a question, when is the big shiny new A330 belonging to The president being delivered?

On 30th December 2011, we made an interview with Hamdi Topcu, THY's chairman of the board for Kokpit Aviation TV Program. Here you are some interesting facts from Topcu:

- THY is looking for buying shares from 2-3 airlines in Europe. This will be announced soon.

- For aircraft orders THY turned to catch order cancels. Topcu said "We have ordered 12 777's in 2009 which was cancelled because of economic crise. By taking this aircrafts, THY reach 2015 long range fleet level in 2010. We are looking for same thing"

- Heavy investment to flight training. Old 737-400 and RJ100 simulator will be sold soon. THY will open a flight training center in Aydin/Cildir Airport.

- THY focus on galley manufacture. First 3 finished for Boeing 737 series. For Airbus, first one will be finished in June.

- For airline seat, the sertification planned to finish end of 2012.

Here you are a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Hbk9sTzNoo

One year ago today, I was in the middle of my first TK trip, ORD-IST-TLV. Ever since, I've been hooked on what's been happening with this fantastic airline, and I am very excited for what 2012 has in store. Thanks TK787 for your continued facilitation of discussion!

On that note, can anyone give a summary of the new routes TK is opening up in 2012? There are so many rumors that it's hard to tell the difference between a confirmed route and someone's (including TK's) wishful thinking.
