I flew IAD-AMS last month on a UAL 777 with 1060 KM/H

DLL10, 4h55 mins sounds awfully fast and also a bit unlikely to me. But with a hurricane in the tail who knows.... Smile/happy/getting dizzy

It is unlikely, YOERI1970, but it actually happened. I was a very rough flight in parts, as with altitude changes the winds changed dramatically. We had a groundspeed well above 600kts, but airspeed was of course lower. I have never before or after crossed the Atlantic in less than 6 hours. But even the captain said it was rare.

I flew from Athens to Dubai with Olympic on a 707. I think that it was over 1000km/h. The aircraft was pretty empty and the 707 is pretty fast, isn't it?

In Aug.1998 on LH -B742 ´Schleswig-Holstein´ from NWR to Frankfurt /Main

The speed indicator on the IFE-screen displayed 1050 km´s /h ,due to heavy tail wind.

It actually isn't rare at all. That is about VS usual flight time for that segment during certain times of the year. I'd say the times over a year's period will avg 6hrs.
