I've noticed this with many teams' visit to GB: the team charter flies into Appleton (ATW) and flies out of Green Bay (GRB). The most recent occurrence was the Detroit Lions visit to GB for the regular season finale on 1/1/12 via UAL 1837. Seems odd to do the short ferry flight in the interim, but there's more to it than I know. Anyone have the reason(s) why this procedure is followed?

Most teams usually stay at the Appleton Radisson Paper Valley Hotel, then bus to the game on Sunday.

Departures for the teams are from the stadium direct to the airport.

How Long would you want to stay in Green Bay after the Packers have handed your but to you in front of 70,000 fans and a couple of million people on TV. LOL

The 764 that took the Giants to Green Bay then repositioned to Providence so that it could bring the Denver Broncos home.

Do you know if this is a PMCO or a PMUA 772?

UA should be sponsoring the SuperBowl. They are flying the majority of the teams in the playoffs.

Also interesting that the Broncos flew into BOS and then that plane ferried to EWR.

When the Packers won the first Super Bowl, they flew from LA back to GRB on a UA DC-6B, and there are films of their arrival at GRB showing the aircraft.
