The customer-requested slide for the delivery of KAL's first 747-8F (RC541) has been made clear. KAL wants it to coincide with the delivery of a 777 (WF136).

Would someone please remind me as to when is KAL planning to get the 747-8i?

I am planning to fly KE in May. Thinks look set for an ICN-LAX segment on the A388. Would love to have sector on 747-8i. The latter would be the last stop in my plan to have flown all 747 variants!

The Ascend database says KAL won't take delivery of their first 747-8i until July 2013.

This article from a Seattle newspaper
http://blog.seattlepi.com/aerospace/...ders-five-747-8-intercontinentals/
says KAL will take delivery between May 2013 and May 2015.

Looks like it only affects VIP birds, which might not even have planned to use it. LH doesn't plan to use it (at least before a fix) and the fix will be in place before KE and W3 get their birds (assuming they planned to use it).

You cannot state that with any certainty, Boeing do not have a timeline for the fix as yet.

While the fuel tank lock out effects all 747-8I aircraft, airlines will more than likely not have the same issues as VIP customers. The article states;

"when non-fuel payload exceeds 60% of the aircraft's maximum structural payload. The balance of the payload would be fuel stored in the aircraft's wing tanks."

A new thread has been started on the fuel tank issue - 748-I Tailplane Fuel Tanks Excluded From Use (by art Jan 20 2012 in Civil Aviation) - so we can return this thread to production, delivery and flight testing reports.

The snow that fell this week and shut down KPAE didn't seriously affect 747-8 deliveries as there were none scheduled this week. The next delivery should be RC602 to ABC early next week. A C-1 flight is scheduled for today, weather permitting.

Does LH perform their own interior fitting (ala BA), or do they have Boeing do it for them?

If the latter, then indeed we should see their first delivery in the factory to have her interior installed since I believe it's due within two months.

They probably have to get that tail tank secured and deactivated so it will be a few weeks. Then it goes to LH for custom outfitting. Hope that have room as most of the BBJ's are headed there. (wonder if the various customers peek at the other interiors and issue change orders to keep up with the latest?)

I would suspect with all the BBJ work going there, Boeing will install the LH commercial interiors.
