I was recently at LAX getting on the 16:00 flight to DXB and saw a VX A320 on the tarmac that was named "The Tim Clark Express" and wanted to ask people the story behind that aircraft's name? Working for EK I was obviously intrigued, and pointed this out to the crew I was with, and both of them agreed it was odd - I even checked online to see if there was any other "Tim Clark" of note that might have made more sense as the aircraft's name, and came up empty.
Insights to the story behind this aircraft's name? Would be hilarious (and highly doubtful) if they named after EK's Tim Clark.

N633VA - "The Tim Clark Express" was named after the author and not the President of Emirates. I am not sure of the reason on the specific naming. Sorry to get your hopes up! From time to time we as Crew get to name the planes....this one was named by either someone higher up or a citizen.

Ha! Hopes weren't up, I couldn't fathom a reason why VX would name it after him - though it seems random to name it after the author as well, only because it doesn't really "jive" with either VX's image or the names of their other planes! Thanks for looking into though
Incidentally you mention crew naming airplanes - do you guys get to do that, and if so, do crew put in names and one is chosen, or does the airline offer a set of names, and crew vote on one? That's a really a cool way to get involved! We obviously have nothing like that here at Emirates.
