Got an email notice today that this launches daily March 7 as an "all club" class service - Club Premium and Club Classic - as follows:
HKG-LGW HX875 2350/0555+1
LGW-HKG HX876 2130/1645+1 (1745+1 after DST begins)
Claims brand new A330-200 service. Anyone planning to try this? I take it HX is connected to the whole Hainan Airlines conglomerate since this email came from the Fortune Wings Club, and one can earn miles to their account on this service. I happen to think highly of HU as far as their domestic service (I'm an expat in China) but wasn't it HX that attemtped to TO on a taxiway at HKG a few years ago? Sorry for the random thought, but something like that can seriously undermine the inflight comfort and entertainment before it starts, to say the least!

Aha - the return leg has been scheduled as an evening flight and not the afternoon, which is the pattern expected (TG,CX, SQ, MH etc all have the return leaving around noon from LON). With the plane sitting unused for a full day they must be very confident that all the club seats will pay off the cost of 2 planes needed for this rotation (instead of 1.5 planes).
