Bahrain Air considers buying 3 to 5 SSJs , despite also looking at Bombardier.

Sukhoi sees strong sales in the Middle Eastern region.Perhaps Armavia flying already there with their new SSJ gives some ideas to the Gulf carriers ?

Speaking about the SSJ , when the first will be delivered to Interjet of Mexico ?

Western? West from where? I consider Bahrain to be in the Middle East...

Seriously, I guess they "use" the SSJ to negotiate a better price for another aircraft...

Why would they? Bombardier is not selling well so I doubt that they are not willing to lower the price of their aircraft. I think it has more to do with delivery dates, I suppose that they can get the SSJ faster than other regional aircraft since it's a relatively new product.

Yes you are right , Western is not really the appropriate word.I just written this to resume in one term , it's not an order which perhaps will come from a non CIS country.

Not so sure Bahrain expressed an interest in the SSJ , just to lower the C Serie price.Afterall the SSJ is cheaper than the Bombardier , and to win the order Sukhoi can also make some kind of discount.

Why would they?

Why wouldn't they use every tactic available to them to get the lowest price they can? Do you really think Ryanair are going to buy Chinese planes?

Hey AA, the 1960s called. They want their planes back!

Yes but who says that everyone uses Ryanair's methods? Not to mention that here were are not talking about an order for 200 aircraft but 3.
Because the number is so low I think other things are invoved rather than price.

That example came also to my mind...

Because everyone wants to buy as cheap as possible!

Or, it might just be that the SSJ is living up to expectations and that it is a pretty fine aircraft which airlines want to buy because it outperforms rivals.

Not now as a launch customer, but if a Russian or Chinese type proves itself to be reliable and well supported whilst being more cost effective to buy and operate then I can easily see them placing a large order. Why wouldn't they?

I really think that the SSJ has a great chance. When InterJet has these delivered, I am making a point to try it out. The C919 also has a good chance.. We must remember these are modern aircraft and not 50 year old Tupolevs although I always fancied those too.
