It's being reported that an SAS aircraft was on collision course with a Braathens plane over Trondheim (TRD) a little over three weeks ago. The Braathens flight was carrying 59 passengers.

The Braathens Boeing 737-500 aircraft was about to come in for landing at Værnes Airport outside Trondheim, when a Fokker 50 operated by SAS Commuter suddenly appeared about 60 metres ahead, writes the daily Verdens Gang (http://www.vg.no). The near miss has only now come to public attention.

Aircraft Accident Investigation Board director Finn Heimdal has confirmed that the SAS Commuter plane was on course to intercept the Braathens aircraft.

"It commenced a swing it should not have, but we don't yet know why," he said. "We have collected quite a number of documents (about the incident) and have also asked for a copy of the radar report," Heimdal explained.

The Braathens flight was on its way from Tromsø (TRD) via Bodø (BOO) with 59 passengers on board and a crew of five.

The SAS plane was bound for Trondheim from Bardufoss (BDU). The same Fokker 50 needed to make an emergency landing at Bardufoss only five days previously on it's way to Harstad/Narvik (EVE).

SAS Commuter declined to make a comment to Verdens Gang, saying it would be incorrect to discuss the Trondheim incident before the accident investigation board had arrived at its conclusions.

Thanks, Heisan67....I had figured it was either up that way or in the Pacific rim somewhere, I just hadn't flipped the coin yet.
