For the next three days I'll be taking a spotting/photography trip to BGR. You never know what might make a visit when you're spotting at BGR? Over the last couple days there's been a NASA DC-8 making flights out over Ontario before returning to BGR. Hoping to get up there in the morning before it possibly leaves and doesn't return?
I'm primarily hoping to shoot some transient military activity and the AMC military charter flights that visit daily. Mostly Omni Air, World, North American. (Usually, there's no less than 6 per 24 hour period at BGR) Maybe some JFK?EWR airline diversions for fuel if the winds are strong over the North Atlantic or there's an air rage incident that needs to be dealt with?
Anyway, I have a question about the civil AMC flights operated for the U.S. military and I was hoping somebody could give me an answer? I would like to know where most of these flights transiting through BGR are originating?
Every day on Flightaware, I see the AMC flights coming through BGR from numerous locations in Europe, where they've stopped for fuel. Most often SNN or Leipzig. However, I can't track them back far enough to determine where they originated?
With the last troops out of Iraq, I'd assume most of the flights now are transiting troops from the theater in Afghanistan? I'm pretty sure most of the AMC flights bringing troops back and forth from Afghanistan aren't actually originating there, but are probably coming out of neighboring countries such as Pakistan, Tajikistan, etc., where troops have been flown to on C-130 or C-17's to catch a civilian charter state side?
With Iraq, I think most AMC flights were originating out of Kuwait City? But can anybody tell me the most common departure points of the current AMC flights regularly transiting personnel from the Afghan deployments?

The origins in the US vary going through BGR.
As far as AMC flights coming across the Pond into BGR, they originate in Europe, Kuwait, etc. Various military a/c are used to get troops from Afghanistan and other locales to those gateways.

Flightaware isnt going to have the flights prior to their refuel stop in Europe, because they're going to fly under a Camber (CMB) callsign downstream. You can see the flight numbers on libhomeradar, but I don't know where you can see them graphically-displayed while flying the Camber flights. The o/d info on libhomeradar is notoriously inaccurate if it's there at all.
