American Airlines applied with the DOT for the allocation of 3 additional Brazil frequencies.

AA proposes the additional frequencies would allow it to operate daily MIA-Manaus service starting June 15, 2012 utilizing 737-800 equipment.

AA’s requested frequencies are from an unallocated pool of 9 remaining frequencies which were made available for US carriers effective October 2011.

That's great news! They apparently changed their minds about postponing the start date to November. Now, they want even more frequencies!

I would still like to see Miami to Fortaleza and Belem. Both could easily be down on the 757 as well

I can't understand how they want more frequencies if they haven't started to sell it yet. Anyway, great news. Now all AA's 7 Brazilian destinations are daily at least. Which will be the next one? I assume FOR, because I would have thought it would come before MAO.

MIA to BSB and CNF will increase to daily service.

MIA-DFW will increase from daily to 14x weekly and be the first route to see the new 777-300.

And MIA-GRU will take a 777 from ORD-DEL to replace the 767 for 3x daily 777.

This is only daily for the high season thru 4/3 when it drops back to 3x weekly. On 6/14 it will become a regular daily flight.

So from April to June it will only be 3x weekly?

Porto Alegre is most likely next. Hopefully by year's end.

Yes. It only became a daily flight for the high season, but it did very well.

DFW-GRU will become 12x weekly as it is now on IATA winter, but B77W + ???

MIA-CNF and MIA-BSB were only supposed to be daily for high season.
They go back to 5x weekly BSB and 3x weekly CNF on 4/3.
But now they will be daily year round on 6/14.

This is great news. It makes me dream about a direct flight in the medium term to NYC...

It seems AA is concerned with low season demand. Do you know if they will reduce JFK-GIG to 5x weekly during off-season ?
Want to know if AA will take full advantage of Rio+20 Conference. Heard from sources in United Nations that it demands hundreds of trips between New York and Rio during the next few months.
At least was said to me by AA in Brazil that they extended the 772 on the route to see how it performs after January in order to take a decision to keep or not, and to keep the flight as daily.

DOT approved the 3 additional frequencies today to allow for the daily proposed Manaus service.

DOT also made mention - the frequencies maybe used for any point or points in Brazil, with exception of Sao Paulo should AA in the future desire to make changes to this allocation.
