1) Concorde - by a mile
2) Vickers VC-10 - only a mile behind Concorde
3) DH Comet - especially compared to the props of the day
4) Bristol Britannia - best looking turboprop and pretty big
5) DH Dragon Rapid (even before my time)

Here's my top five:
Constellation - Especially the 1049G with tip tanks.
VC10 - Who says the British design ugly airplanes! Even in RAF grey or tan they still look sleek.
707 - Looks like its always in motion.
A340 - OK, I'll swallow my American pride a bit here and admit its the best looking airliner currently being produced. Seeing one off in the distance on approach reminds me of the 707.
777-200 - If it had winglets, I'd pick it over the A340 for best looking current a/c. The -300 looks good, but a bit awkward with all that extra length.

Who, me? I see what you mean but I assure you it was an accident! I could have included the 747-400 but I just feel, for the reasons I added, that those were the sleekest and curviest airliners I've known, especially in their day.

I can't believe no one mentioned the elegant and powerful DC7C. Or how about the large winged beauty L1649?

1. VC10 - Nothing comes close, classic elegant design
2. A340 - Just look at the pictures of it at the end of the runway ready to go. You gotta love them long wings. Looks like a modern 707 from a distance.

1. Caravelle
2. Vickers Viscount-good proportions for the 4 Dart engines
3. Lockheed Constellation 1049 with wing tip tanks
4. Stretch DC-8's --they looked better long!
5. My god-Convair 440/580--they still look modern 40 years later!!
Special Mention:
Convair 880/990--nice line with the slim fuselage-but needed a bit more character

B737-200 (GREEEAT!)
A320
B727
A340 (only the -200 version and only the first few built as their nosegear is shorter than the ones followed - gives them a GREAT look!)
IL86

I like the MD90; it looks like an oversized bizjet.
A330, 747, SR-71, & Concorde... from the inside out the 777 wins hands down with it’s sleek smoothly sculpted interiors and clever packaging of the overhead bins. I would also vote for the 777's exterior shape but unfortunately you have be standing very close to appreciate it's subtle aerodynamic beauty. It’s just not apparent from a distance.
