New Here, my question? KACV to the east, or north. KDEN via United, KSLC via DAL, QXE via SEA.... is there any growth? Would like to see others beyond SFO, and SMF.

IIRC, this past year they applied for an SCASD grant on UA to DEN, but this got denied......

At least airport/community officials are looking at this.

QX gave ACV the chop to SEA (I think), PDX, RDD, and LAX. DL to SLC got the ax as well. I haven't heard rumors of anything new.

Yes QX has left, as well as DL. DL codeshares with AS so who knows if SLC returns, would love to see that flight come back. Maybe the nubers were too low from SLC, alot of folks from Humbolt county liked the option. Rumor said when QX stopped using PDX and ran to SEA local travelers switched to UA via SFO. Personally Id like to see DEN but as point2point said that was axed... Bummer Wonder what the future will hold

I remember when ACV was mainline for both UA and RC with B 737s and DC-9s. I even flew a B 727 ACV to SFO once. After the mainline service was gone, OO did fly one or two CRJs to SFO daily coupled with the E120 service, but even those are gone. I keep wishing my hometown of CIC would get more service, but every time I wish that someone comes along and shoots me down. Their point is taken that CIC is too close to SMF and SFO/OAK. I live on the south coast of Oregon now, and on the rare occasion I need to fly I compare fares from both CEC and MFR. I usually see no difference between CEC and ACV...or at least not enough difference to make the drive worthwhile. I keep wondering what is going to happen to all these communities once OO gets rid of the E120s.

cic777, why would you say UA/CO would want to dump this? Think your sneaky suspicion is wrong. There are 6 daily flights with a great load factor. This route can easily work with 2-3 daily RJ's or whomever UA brings in to operate these small markets when the EMB's finally depart the fleet.

Hey cic777, I have family in Nesika Beach, and have been contemplating a move to Brookings for the milder weather, you like it down there? MFR is really your only other option for air travel other than CEC, huh?

Calm down people. I was lumping together all the routes where OO operates the E120. Yes, a few will remain and go CRJ with reduced frequencies. I think others will simply be discontinued or turned over to another carrier. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think OO has any desire to go with any aircraft smaller than the CRJ. I'd love to be proven wrong.

Maybe SeaPort could use their caravans to ACV, for about 2-3 months. I can only speak from my one experience flying into and supposedly out of ACV. Taking QX from PDX, flight stopped in RDD on the way down, great short hop from RDD to ACV. Two days later back at ACV for non-stop home, no one in our party of 3 had any idea ACV is a military training airport for fog situations. Our flight, the last of the day, was cancelled as plane couldn't make it in from RDD and would be going back to PDX without the ACV stop. I'm wondering if fog delays and diversions are part of the reason airlines can't do well flying there.

I was flying RC PHX-ACV once with a stopover (no plane change) in SFO. The second leg of the flight to ACV got cancelled due to fog and low visibility. We got bumped to the evening flight. We got informed at boarding that they weren't sure we'd be able to make it, and to be prepared to come back to SFO. Thank goodness we were able to get in.

How long did RC stay in ACV? I know RW was there for a very long time, CEC as well, yes the good 'ol days of mainline flights to places that are now lucky to see any commercial service at all. You know OO has tried many NW airports some stuck RDM, EUG, some didn't SLE, ACV. I see UA is pulling PDX-OTH leaving SeaPort, hope OTH's experience is better than AST, ONP, SLE, IDA, BOI's was. Gone are the days of milk run flights stopping 3-5 times between Seattle and San Francisco on mainline jets. Sigh....

Not sure when RC pulled up stakes in ACV. RW was bought out by RC. Yeah I remember those milk runs. RW had a run that originated in LAS and terminated in SEA with stops in SFO, CIC, RDD, LMT, RDM, and PDX. RW's Fl 1 originated in ACV, stopped in SFO then continued on to Mexico. RW tried to do the same thing out of CIC with Fl 2, but apparently that didn't work. All of this with DC 9-30s. It was not too much longer after that they ceased ops in CIC. I could start a whole thread on that. Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread...lol

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest...my mom and some other members of my family live near ACV, and they usually find themselves driving instead of flying, because it seems like they never know when the airport's going to need to close due to fog. My mom actually got stuck at SMF overnight on Christmas night; was trying LAX - SMF - ACV to avoid possible delays at SFO, and the ACV leg got cancelled.

I'm still wondering if a bus service from the ACV area to SFO (for the same of making airline connections) would be financially feasible? It would take longer (5 to 6 hours), but from what I gather about fog and ACV, I think it would be more reliable...

I wasn't even thinking SeaPort to SFO, I think the only logical city would be PDX, as that's SeaPorts hub, and since QX has left ACV, there is a gap in Northward flights from ACV now, I think SeaPort would only use their Caravans if they ever started this kind of route, who knows, maybe they'd do PDX-OTH-ACV.

Wouldn't G4 be a good fit for ACV? Offering LAS & AZA 2 x weekly, I doubt an ACV-BLI flight would draw enough to support even a 2x weekly service profitably.
