Greetings:
Why did United Airlines terminate their Chicago - Honalulu route? This service ended when the DC-10s were retired. So, why not operate a 777 or 767-300? There seems to be allot of traffic between Chicago and Honalulu. I was on UA flight from ORD to SFO and almost the entire plane was continuing on to Honalulu. Why didn't they resume the non-stop service? ORD-HNL used to be United's signature flight, back when it was good ol' flight 1.

As has been stated before in this forum,it has not been restarted because of a few reasons:
1) UA's ALPA contract has limits on 2-crew domestic flying times, since HA is a US state, they are limited to only a certain amount of flying time.
2)Hawaii is a low-yeild market with alot of FF's cashing in thier miles.
3)UA wants o funnel people thru LA and SFO
So,someday they may revive it,but not soon.
