From MOL conference today in Warsaw:
New FR routes from Warsaw Modlin (WMI) starting from July: CRL, BUD, DUB, STN, BGY, RYG, CIA, NYO
All of them in direct competition with Wizz Air. No Ryanair base in Modlin, talks are continuing.

I'm surprised this announcement hasn't been commented on more. Warsaw has been the most inaccessible big European city for a long time.......bearing in mind Wizzair isn't particularly cheap (from Liverpool and Doncaster, in my case).

Plus just in time for the European football championships this summer! Flights were already quite expensive.

Quoting mainMAN (Reply 6): Here are the initial weekly frequencies....
A fare bloodbath in Warsaw is imminent. Not only FR vs. W6 in WMI but also affecting LO in WAW.
Starting from mid-July frequencies offered will be:
WMI-CRL FR 7w, W6 7w, WAW-BRU LO 19w, SN 7w
WMI-BUD FR 7w, W6 4w, WAW-BUD LO 17w
WMI-BGY FR 3w, W6 4w, WAW-MXP LO 17w
WMI-CIA FR 3w, WMI-FCO W6 7w, WAW-FCO LO 4w
WMI-RYG FR 3w, WMI-TRP W6 5w, WAW-OSL DY 6w
WMI-NYO FR 4w, W6 7w, WAW-ARN LO 12w
WMI-DUB FR 3w, WAW-DUB EI 7w
WMI-STN FR 7w, WMI-LTN W6 28w, WAW-LHR LO 20w, BA 14w
Remember, most of LO flights are served with 70-100 passenger Embraer Jets, thus, for many destinations, a daily FR 738 is quite an increase in the number of seats offered.

Unfortunately the airport in Modlin will open AFTER the European football championships. They claim that they will be able to take some charter flghts during the championships (in June) but the scheduled W6 and FR operations are to start from mid-July.

Damn, forgot about that, but FR will use the other airport instead then before 18 July.

No. FR will open the routes from WMI in July. Wizz Air is using WAW now and will move to WMI in July.
