I remember when Global tried to bid for TWA, the media tried contact the company, and the phone number was not in service and the website address that was in their press release ended up to be for an adult website. Is Global really a real company, or is it just a paper shell for something else. What next, Jet Acquisition Group making a bid on U.S. Airways? Frank and Carl ganging up to buy the airline? The only offer for U.S. Airways I'll believe in will be one by a company whose history is known, and not some shadowy company that's not known at all. The only thing that would give me a bigger laugh would be if someone like AirTran made an offer for U.S. Airways, just like they were really the first company to make an offer of any note for TWA.

From the above article.
"The offer was valid until midnight today, but it could be extended, Global said. If US Airways Group Inc.'s board failed to respond to the offer, Global would move forward with a tender offer to buy the company "at its own discretion." The offer also called for US Airways to pay Global a $500 million break up fee if US Airways did not complete the deal."
This bit sounds weird, I want to buy something but if you don't want to do business I will charge you for it.

Not a big surprise after the purchase attempts of TWA and National.

For starters, Global Airlines has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with Carl Icahn or Jet Acquisitions Group. Global is nothing but the brainwave of Emil Bernard who made his money with phonesex lines.
I had *lunch* (in truth, we stood and ate sandwiches - but he paid for them!) with Emil back in March and his ideas for US Airways (which he shared with me back then) were pretty amusing to say the least. The guy has no clue about airlines or finance, but he IS a savvy marketer. Thats about all he has going for him.
Once again, I reiterate that Global has absolutely NOTHING to do with Carl or JAG.

Great... maybe we'll see the return of the Stardust casino lady on the US tails (ala WestPac in the mid/late 90s).
What's next? Miss Cleo answering reservations predicting what seat you'll get?

Seven or eight years ago Carl Icahan tried to start an airline, I don't remember all the details, except one. He was judged unfit to run an airline in the US. It's possible that things have changed but I doubt it.
BTW Miss Cleo is really Master Cleo. It's true (S)He is a man. What a shock!
What is it with all the "is there a possibilty airline X will.." threads? The answer it'll is possible.
