1x summer service on BOS-ACK.

Doesn't their code share partner, 9K, already fly this?

Most people on a.net hate JetBlue. Get used to it.

Yes, but the demand for service in the summer is high enough to warrant seasonal service by JetBlue. They've done similar service to ACK (as well as MVY) out of JFK in recent years (There's been talk of JFK-HYA seasonal service as well.)

Wow! It's about time! I remember in the 1980's when New York Air flew DC-9's BOS-ACK. Loved seeing the red tail!

Well, BOS didn't get the flights to LGA I was expecting, nor did it get any flights to PHF that some thought were coming before we learned otherwise, but we got ACK. I wonder what 9K thinks of them doing this, though it probably means that they can send some of their planes that would've flown BOS-ACK elsewhere. Honestly, I didn't see this one coming, though I feel that I say that a lot. This will be the only mainline flight to fly between two airports in Massachusetts and the first in years!

I suspect there is more to this than meets the eye. The two airlines were already code-sharing on the route, and the relationship as I understand it is pretty good between the two.

I don't know...having worked at 9K, I feel this is a decision made with "something" else in there that we won't really know about.

Nice way to say happy valentines day to a codeshare partner like flying a plane that is equal to ten 402's on 9K's bread and butter route. The one thing that comes to mind is Jermey Clarkson from Top Gear saying "OH MY GOD a bit of P**'s come out"

Each departure slot that 9K has to BOS during the summer is usually two to three planes. With the starting fares of 49 bucks they are actually less than 9K is charging.

BOS isn't slot controlled. Do you mean 9K parks two to three planes to a gate?

I think they add extra sections to each flight, just like the LGA-BOS shuttle did when it was at its peak. When the 1100 flight fills up they just bring in another plane instead of rolling the extra pax to the 1130 flight.
