I have opinions on the subject 'sp, but my advice is, don't hold your breath. (Maybe when there are no more '67s in HA's fleet it will happen but who knows if/when that will actually be the case.)
But I do agree with you 100% that it would be very nice to see a big AB at Lindbergh Field sometime.

2011's average LF was ~90% which is pretty good. But now that AS flies to HNL with HA, I'm sure that'll impact/delay the A330 to SAN. To be honest...I prefer the 767, HA sends ones with Winglets and oh my do they look amazing!!

Quoting 747400sp (Thread starter): With HA retiring their 767s soon, I wonder, when will HA start flying A332 into SAN? It would be nice to have A330s, flying into SAN.
I don't think we'll see the 763ERs being retired anytime soon. They will be around for quite sometime, unless HA orders more A332s to replace them 1 for 1. I just don't see it happening. As well, the 767s allow them to have flexibility to adjust to demand if need be with the A332 and the 76s.

Quoting HAL (Reply 3): I've heard from a little birdie that you won't have to hold your breath very long.
I sure love it when those little birdies start whispering in peoples' ears here on A.net! And I hope your little birdie is one that is usually correct, HAL!
Hmmmmmm. It would be nice to see a positive move by Pualani in San Diego. It's been a while...

Quoting SANFan (Reply 6): Are you talking 321s, P? Or cargo?
FedEx. I know its not the same, but it IS a heavy Airbus.
I think SFO and LAX are the only two US cities to get the 330. Surely HA does not like SAN that much to make us the third city to get their shiny new airplane....

I like the sound of that! I've stood under an A330 before, it is both a beautiful and imposing aircraft. It actually looks more imposing than even a 747 from ground level in my eye. I hope we'll see that plane in SAN sooner rather than later!
There are no plans to remove the 767 from HA's fleet. many of them are owned, not leased. Some of the leased aircraft are being returned to lessors, but the majority of the fleet will remain with HA.
Off the top of my head, aircraft 580, 581, 582, 594, 596, 597 and 598 are owned by HA.

Quoting SANFan (Reply 15): And I have a real good idea what the 5th HA (U.S.) city might very well be, P...
Hey SANFan, The wingspan of a 332 is only about 2 feet shorter than the 772 and leads me to believe that it will have to cross the runway to get to the end of RWY 27 similar to what the BA 772 has to do. So might as well wait until the south taxiway and it's service road can be moved over before they upgrade to the larger aircraft. I hope that is soon.

I was in that area ( a couple of days ago,) they were doing some digging and some sort of work in the area of the old Teledyne bldgs, My guess is they're in the process of moving the service road. They're going to have to do
something fast, we aready got BA's 772 here, soon to have JAL 787s, and HA's A330s.

I would love the see HA A330s at SAN! I've seen enough of the 767s. The Airbus would be refreshingly different. Plus, the A330 is the only good looking Airbus in my opinion and looks great in HA colors.

We think you'll get your wish this summer, R! Please keep your camera ready...
Oh and mark "December" on your calendar as well... We'll need some pictures of some new plastic airplane then as well!
