Would really have liked UA to bring at least the first 787 off the line with some kind of special livery, even if it was just a huge 787 on it or some thing that stands out. After all they are going to be the first north american company with the 787 so should make the most of it. That aside, I cannot wait to see it in service.

Quoting DFWHeavy (Reply 2): Would anyone know how much overweight this bird is compared to the ones ANA and Japan Airlines received?
It's very much underweight. Look at the bare engine pylons.

Quoting United1 (Reply 3): Partially painted....they are missing the cheat line and the underbelly is white.
And no engines
It is like someone de-pants the poor guy and he doesn't have any balls!

Interesting that it has no cheatline yet...maybe they have not decided where to place it?

ya know..think I like it better without the cheatline and belly paint...cleaner. Just paint the motors blue to tie in the the tail and think it would be a winner.

Quoting bikerthai (Reply 21): Interesting, I guessing they pulled this plane out of the assembling line just to show case an airplane that goes to a US carrier.
And it won't even be on the background shots. If you see where the podium for the obligatory speech is located, the background will be the giant flag hanging from the ceiling and the other two 787s on the line.
It seems as though the whole purpose of having a United 787 first in the line is to make sure that Obama doesn't tour a plane destined for a foreign carrier...
I've got $h*t to do
25 Roseflyer: Actually, that 787 is line number 55 and was in that slot because that was where it was supposed to be. It was put in a slant position for the ceremo
26 timf: Since it's still on the production line, I doubt any of the United markings are really painted on. They likely just slapped decals with the titles and
27 overloaduk: What engines have United choose? I looked on newairplane.com but no luck
28 sweair: I was thinking the other day about the former test planes za004-6 in rework, wouldn't these first not so hot overweight but probably dirt cheap be goo

30 bohica: It's the new version of eurowhite. In the USA it's called ameriwhite.
35 Roseflyer: 9 abreast. With the exception of JAL and ANA, just about every airline has chosen 9 abreast. They spent quite a bit of money shutting the whole line
36 dynamicsguy: There should be. Line 55 is a blockpoint for changes. And there have been blockpoints at 7, 20 and 34.
37 UnitedTristar: I would suspect that the entire livery is just stickers temporarily applied for the event, I wouldn't think Boeing would just stop painting part way t
38 Max Q: Looks good the way it is. Otherwise it is way past time for a new paint scheme.
39 ghifty: Blegh! The 787 looks gross in the UA/CO colours. Makes it look like a 787-7, or something. +1,000,000. All these slogans are getting tiresome, I mean
41 rampart: Y A W N I remember when CO's new livery came out. It was several months before I realized there was a cheatline, it's so thin. But it grew on me, a v
43 PM: Strictly speaking, that's not true. Continental chose GE and this plane is from the CO order. United haven't yet chosen - or, at least, announced - a
44 AirBuffalo: that's a bettter message... american exports stronger than ever!
45 AA94: You're absolutely right. Boeing applied decals for the event. This includes the UNITED titles, the globe on the tail (save for maybe the rudder) and
46 ColAvionLover: It is a sticker! Reports say it isn't painted yet...take a closer look! From AirlineReporter
47 SXDFC: I completely agree, it makes it look a lot cleaner too!
48 stasisLAX: Very nice! I always loved that UA livery!
49 PacificClipper: Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z......a subtle bore if anything.
51 Max Q: Why is it the rear fuselage section looks like it has not been connected yet ?!
52 AA737-823: I noticed that, as well. I guess we laymen don't really know what stage of assembly the bird is actually in, given that it was simply in this positio
53 Chimborazo: None His work internet was blocking the original linked photo. All good now as the actual pic has been posted. +1. They could've at least run a bead
54 ajhYXE: Meh...it doesn't look any worse than the current (new) UA scheme.
55 Glareskin: I back you on that one. The new United / old Continental livery is so cheap. The lastest pre-merger United was so cool. The only stylish that stayed
56 Fly2HMO: What a lame livery. I was hoping they'd do something slightly different for this plane. Guess not
57 gothamspotter: Those were decals, not paint. Interior that Obama toured was also temporary. More pics: http://nycaviation.com/2012/02/photo...ainted-united-airlines-

60 bmacleod: Looks fantastic, can't wait to see it flying!! When is estimated EIS entry-into-service?
61 neutronstar73: No worries, Dude. People have their own tastes; nothing wrong with that. You shouldn't get shouted at for that. ; )
62 PLANEMANGROY: Looks too plain. Hopefully something more will be done to the paint scheme.
63 Viscount724: As others have confirmed, the aircraft has NOT been painted. If not mistaken, the white paint on the fuselage is a primer coat that's applied by the
64 Max Q: Not by me. I completely agree, the front does look all wrong and it sits too low to the ground.
65 VC10er: Why won't the new UNITED give us all what we want (which will be even good for them) an f'ing cool lauch livery? I really don't think Lippencott has t
