look at the engine, someone please tell me that isn't the BMW symbol on it. Is it just me, or does it look exactly like the BMW symbol?

It better be the BMW logo. The 717 has BMW/Rolls Royce 715 engines. If it has the P&W logo you are looking at a DC-9.

Actually, the newest 717s only have the Rolls Royce logo on them, since the BMW/Rolls Royce partnership is now known as Rolls Royce Deutschland.
