I was in Aberdeen yesterday and there was a TCX 757 on the remote stand.

I later noticed on the departures screen that it was due to depart at 20:00 to LGW

Is this a scheduled flight? I didnt think they carried pax when there were posistioning the fleet.

Some airport departure screens show EVERY flight. Will just have been positioning/ferrying empty down to LGW.

The a/c in question was G-TCBB and it actually came up from LGW in the morning before departing at 7.45. No idea what it was doing though.

There was a charter to Malabo in December last year so it could have been going through LGW. The last one only had 50 pax and anymore and the 757 probably couldn't get off ABZ runway.

When I worked for TCX we used to do ABZ-AYT with a full load on a B752 with a 235 seating config... never under estimate the power of a 757!

Usually in regular holiday charter flights from ABZ in the summer season are done by 'W' patterns using GLA/MAN/LGW based aircraft & crew.

TCX have been known in the quiet months to pick up ad-hoc charter work from other airlines so maybe it was a sub for someone else?

Yes I know but AYT is 4 hours. Malabo is approaching JFK in terms of range.

Quoting liverpoola380 (Reply 5):

It has but it was only a poxy 124m. Runway is only 1950m

Malabo is approaching JFK in terms of range.

Depending on configuration and engine type it should be possible with only a minor payload hit, if at all; CO flew BRS-EWR with a 752, ABZ-SSG is only about 350 miles further. ABZ's runway is 62m shorter but a third of the elevation and cooler, that will practically level the performance.

It was a charter from London for day trippers - there was also a Flybe ERJ195 coming in for the same conference.
