Just came back from Singapore - one note on Changi is the tremendous amount of Indonesian traffic, Garuda shuttles, Merpati, Bouraq and Lion Airlines B732's.

A quick question on the "other" airport, Seletar. What is the sort of traffic that goes there and is it open to the public?

Thanks.

It's mostly corporate/business jets, and military traffic (it is a Air Force base as well); Seletar's runways aren't able to handle the heavy airliners. There are a handful of passenger flights to various places in Malaysia that depart from Seletar, but that's about it as far as scheduled pax service goes.

Thanks - I have wondered before why there are so few bizjets/propjets at Changi, although a Jetstream 31 ZKOSW landed on Tuesday, just before I left.

Seletar is not an air force base, but rather it is the haven for young flying enthusiasts. Singapore Flying Club and the Youth Flying Club conducts weekly flying courses. Apart from the flying lessons, Seletar is also a passenger airport, catering to mostly smaller jets and turboprop aircrafts.

One interesting thing is, have Merpati resume flights to Singapore?
