WHAT IS THIS REPORT?
This compares what is for sale THIS WEEK for the stated period versus what was for sale LAST WEEK...It does NOT compare to last year or now (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED).

HOW DO I READ IT?
XXX-YYY DEC 4>5 JAN 4>5 ; means that the listed airline changed the frequency between the two airports to add from 4 to 5 roundtrips in December and January. No other months were changed. I only list one direction, although it is possible the listed change is only one way. It is too difficult to average the two directions. I assume the change is roundtrip and that is most often the case.

HOW ARE THE DAILY DEPARTURES CALCULATED?
This report uses total operations for the month listed, divided over the days in the month.

WHAT ARE THE FRACTIONAL FLIGHTS?
Non-daily operations create fractional weekly service. In most cases flights are rounded, but in the case of international service or markets with low frequency, fractions are shown. If a flight operated 5 days out of 7, it would show 0.8 flights.

WHY ARE THERE WEIRD FREQUENCIES IN FAR AWAY MONTHS FOR LCCs?
Most airlines publish schedules 11 months in advance. This report covers the next 9 months. That avoids seeing schedules as they are loaded. Several LCCs load their schedules less than 9 months into the future. Their schedules may also end mid-month. If B6 loads their schedule until Jan15, all flights in Janaury will show half frequency because of the way the report is created.

WHY IS A WHOLE AIRLINE'S SCHEDULE SHOWN AS CHANGING FOR A FUTURE MONTH?
Similarly to the previous question, some airlines load their schedule from nothing inside the 9 month window of this report. When their schedule is extended it will show as new service because there was no previous schedule to compare to. In some instances I will show a more valid comparison against another period.

THOSE FLIGHTS AREN'T DELTA, THEY ARE PINNACLE
This report only shows the marketing code. It is too complicated to show all the operators.

THE FREQUENCIES MAY HAVE CHANGED AS YOU SHOW, BUT THE SEATS DIDNT CHANGE BECAUSE OF EQUIPMENT SWAPS
That is a natural weakness of a frequency based report, but it provides something to discuss below.

THE FREQUENCY DOESN'T SHOW A CHANGE, E.G. 4>4
This happens as a result of rounding. There is a change in service that is large enough to be listed, but through rounding it does not appear.

I marked some of the ones I thought were interesting with an "*".

*WN ATL-ORF AUG 0>1.9 SEP 0>3 OCT 0>3
*WN ATL-PHF AUG 4>0 SEP 4>0 OCT 4>0

Exactly..the ATL-ORF Market will replace the ATL-PHF market that was dropped.

WN also did this for SDF-ATL, by replacing SDF-BHM which is dropped on WN.

He put the WN code over all FL Routes to make it easier to track.

Most of the Florida routes you astericked are seasonal and will return, was covered in the WN Blog I posted in the last update.

ATL-SEA/SFO go down as they pull FL Birds to be converted and they transition to WN Only Stations, LAX, PHX, SEA and SFO will convert to WN Metal Stations by those dates.

Very Weird to see WN codes over Air Tran Routes.

SOC for WN/FL will be reached March 1st for those wondering.

Alex

B6:

I notice a pulldown in JFK-CLT and RDU during the summer which is odd and then I see a return to normal freq in the fall which is even more odd.

Me thinks this has to do with aircraft deliveries later in the year and a big expansion of flying (DCA and LGA) which have to start much sooner.

See above...but I think they did the same thing last year. They have an overly large Fall schedule posted and then cancel it down to nothing. They do a lot of charter work in Fall + their fleet sits in weak periods.

They'll need something bigger in their torpedo tube, er I mean the NEO.

That said B6 has been very avers to adding new routes that at the edge of the range envelope due quite frankly to the price of fuel. The margins are far higher through connecting than flying west coast to SJU even at NEO savings.

Risking the wrath of a pedantic a.net, why is WN flying RDU-HOU and why seasonal?

If WN wants a route just for sh**s and giggles, they should give RDU-MSY a try. Seems like that would be a better bet.

The fall schedule has most likely not been loaded and it is just defaulted to what ever is currently selling, so 3. It would not surprise me to see B6 leave CLT. Especially JFK-CLT. With 3 carriers on LGA-CLT, 3 carriers on JFK-CLT, and 2 carriers on EWR-CLT, I just see how B6 is being anything but the low fare carrier. They have better markets to put these airplanes. 2 x Daily won't cut it for competitive measures.

Not seasonal and I believe WN is adding more East Coast cities to HOU.. they began with CHS and GSP.. now RDU... probably more to come..

Quoting FlyPIJets (Reply 17):

Agreed!!!!! And add another flight to FLL, please..

Yep! Was moved up as you probably guessed due to increased demand from the slated June 3rd start date.

It was added the same time SEA-HOU was added. I believe they are both seasonal though.

HOU-MCI/SEA/RDU were all announced the same day.

Oh I already have! I love it, so excited at the news!

I meant to ask about this one...

Reaction to SWA announcing ATL-SDF? In the last thread it was reduced, and now it's back up? It went from 9 daily to 8 daily in May, then jumps two daily in June? Interesting...

Quoting ERJ170 (Reply 19):

Not seasonal

It's seasonal...

We’re adding seasonal new service between Houston Hobby and Seattle-Tacoma, Kansas City, and Raleigh-Durham (one daily roundtrip in each), all of which are brand new nonstop markets for us

I was just thinking the same thing. Given that ATL-SDF on Delta during spring & summer is typically dominated by MD-88's with some 70-76 seat RJ's mixed in that's a bunch of capacity when you add 3 more mainline flights on WN. Right now its very expensive to fly just SDF-ATL on DL, maybe it'll actually be affordable now!
From what enilria's post shows that's the only new WN/FL city from ATL so I wonder if it'll be operated by WN/FL 73G's or FL 717's?
Also wonder if we'll see ATL-BNA on WN sometime soon? Pretty similar scenario to SDF with DL although it doesn't make much sense to fly there given the easy drive (4-4.5 hour drive between the 2 compared to about 7 hours from ATL to SDF).

This one's interesting - they're picking up the old AA flight that used to run EWR-SJU.

Yep pretty much, same thing happened with BDL-SJU.

ATL-SDF/ORF were the new cities announced with WN/FL combined, and both will be flown on Southwest Metal for the time being (keeping in mind a WN Metal may include a refurbished Air Tran 737).

AUS is also a new market that's operated on WN metal. FL will be serving AUS via HOU for the AUS-CUN a/c rotation.

25 PlanesNTrains : Bummer. Not that I've flown this route on FL (only DL), but it was a nice straightshot to the SE. For WN, though, DEN is the new ATL I guess. -Dave
26 Atrude777 : That's right! Slipped my mind! HOU-AUS/SAT will both be flown on FL metal too to fund the CUN Routes, While SNA is not going to be flown from ATL it

31 jetmatt777 : Normally it is 3x during the summer. Last week they bumped it down to 1.8, this is a reversal of that.
