New flight from 28 March VIE-LHR-VIE as OS 457/458. The night flight departs VIE at 20.05 and arrives at 21.30. Return the next morning as OS 458 departing at 6.00 and arriving 9.20.

The flight is operated with an A321.

This is a replacement of the loss of a frequency operated by BD.

Next flights : BRU-ZRH-CAI (LX)/ BRU-FCO-TLV (AZ)

These specific flights were operated by BD but will now be operated by OS.

I was under the impression that all BD flights to VIE were just codeshares on OS.

Does anyone know where OS is pulling the 321 from?

BD presently operates twice-daily to/from VIE (along with BA and OS). The flights you stated will transfer to OS but BD will still sell seats on its website. Once OS takes over these flights, it seems, from BD's website, that it will start new-timed flights: LHR-VIE 1050-1410; VIE-LHR 1640-1805. Once this starts, BD's other daily flight (LHR-VIE 1350-1705; VIE-LHR 2000-2125) will be no more.

That's a lot of plane for a glorified utilization flight! Might as well get to LHR the night before if you're flying out at 0600. Would have thought it would have been smaller gauge.

Austrian are very flexible in the use of their A32x and 73NG fleets.
Just a few A320s are dedicated to Middle East routes but the rest of the network just about anything gets used.
They have had an overnighter before and 06.00Z departure from the UK makes a useful arrival time in European Z+1 time zones for business routes with little connection traffic.

Before LH bought BD , OS always operated this flight with their own metal, now that BD is being sold, this service is just being reintroduced back to OS. When i flew this flight back in 2004, it was a A321 ,and full it was too.

next flights : BD LHR-TXL J, FR SXF-STN Y, SN BRU-LHR Y, MA LHR-BUD Y, BA BUD-LHR J, BA LCY-SNN-JFK J, BA JFK-LHR J, BA

OS at VIE has a departure bank to the east starting about 10. The early morning flight from LHR is to allow onward connections. LOT does the same thing keeping a plane overnight at LHR to connect to the eastbound flights departing around 10-11am.

Absolutely. Perhaps if some A.nutters would perform 1-minute searches before posting such comments...
