It looks, well, like it was written in 1996. Just like Continental.com. But hey, its over and done with.

Congratulations, United.

Well I just went in to book seats on 'manage my booking' and it's showing UnitedFirst and UnitedBusiness.

I'm sure some teething problems were to be expected.

Still, I personally preferred PMUAs website. And I think that might be the first remotely positive thing I've ever said about them!!!

As a dedicated Continental flyer, I can say that there were DEFINITE pros and cons to both sites.
A big drawback to the CO site was the lack of partner bookings- UA.com would book you into LCY all day long, while CO.com has always said, "Neither CO nor any of our partners fly to London City" which is complete hogwash.

I hope this isn't the case, as I'm trying to book a USA-London City flight right now!!

UA's website was, in my opinion, a bit crummy though. It had some useful tools, but CO (whether we like the design and banner ads or not) was a bit more functional. That's just my opinion.

They must be experiencing some IT issues but majority of CO now UA flights are not showing up in sabre. For instance you can book iah to ewr but atl to ewr only shows the two daily UA express flights and nothing else. Most of the connections going thru ewr are not even showing up like the hub does not even exist. Our is it possible that they are still loading flights into the system and its taking a while.

Judging by the look and feel of some of their non-core websites created since the merger, I would imagine that there will be an update once the functionality kinks are worked out:

Hi Guys,

Trying to check in now for my JFK-LAX tomorrow and we seem to be stuck on the swirling plane/car/hotel bed screen.

Has anyone been able to check in online yet?

Thanks!

JH

P.S. I liked the look of the old UA site better. I haven't tried any of the functionality yet (aside from check in) so can't comment on that.

Scratch that.

It came back with a response that my reservation requires special handling and that I need to check in at the airport.

Interesting because I'm not trying to upgrade or anything.

Will try again later and keep you posted...

I posted this on another thread.

Just got a call from a friend of my flying out of SMF and they just made an announcement that people might have to wait for three hours to get checked in and all flights have been halted till they can figure out the right pax on them. Sounds like a mad house, good luck to all the gate and counter agents today as i'm sure its going to be a busy and stressful day for them. They are having to hand check in everybody.

So, this morning I went to United.com, logged in with my old OnePass/new MileagePlus number and PIN, and my reservation for a week from today, booked on the old United.com (but with my OnePass number attached) is right there on the home page. Cool. Works exactly as it is supposed to.

One thing I didn't realize, though I would have had I thought about it, is that I now have a new record locator. I haven't received an email from UA telling me this, which is something I hope I will soon, since not everyone would discover this the way I did. What would happen if on Friday I, as a typical oblivious customer and not someone who has been closely watching the merger anyway, tried to check in with my old record locator?

Mostly positive.

But OMG -- they lost all my Lifetime Miles.

I'm now at "Lifetime Miles 000" -- down from 540,000 Lifetime Miles

I am pretty sure that the old record locator works too for bookings made before this change. Otherwise they must notify all their customers.

Anyway, I could see my booking without any problems, and got the new record locator. Basically the new website is still Continental.com only with United branding everywhere.

That's funny since many of us (and I fly CO and UA 50-50) think the exact opposite.

But no difference now. Let's light this candle and make it work.

United has been communicating this with everyone via emails, and posted this on their Facebook Page. UA has done really well in my opinion in communicating as much as they can about this.

United
As we communicated last week, miles may not be viewable immediately in MileagePlus accounts after our system cutover. We’ve begun the process of updating account balances. Premier members and members who linked their accounts should see accurate balances within 24 hours. Others may take longer, but generally within 48 hours of initial login.

I was a bit concerned because I am expecting 50,000 miles to post any time, and it was attached to my UA Account and not CO's account. I just hope it doesn't get mixed up in the transition. I have a trip depending on this!

One of my favorite qualms with these airline websites is how they present their route maps.

I got onto F9's site, and their static route map is becoming a mess. And at one time, they actually had an interactive map, which is nowhere to be found now.

Now I look at the new UA site, and at their route map page, they have two static route maps, one for domestic, and one for international. And they are even a bigger mess in .pdf than that of F9. How can anyone tell anything, other than be overwhelmed by these route maps?

That being said, UA still has an interactive map here

http://cgi.ua.flightlookup.com/routemap/routemap-fullscreen.html

and my question, I guess, is why isn't the interactive map available with a link from this new site? Or have I not found it there and I need to look more?

Oh well......?

While the "new" United site is pretty ugly and cluttered, it is amazing some of the things it can do that old United couldn't. It's pretty awesome to see partner award availability on carriers like NH, LX and NZ....something you could NEVER do on the old united.com site.

United is definitely having problems with their new system today. I was just on flt 552 from SFO-DEN, and everyone who did not originate out of SFO had to get new boarding passes. Additionally, an FA called on a few people to identify themselves to the crew after boarding to make sure they were actually on the flight.

Congratulations! I like the new look better than their old look, but that is just me. CO's website is no longer in existence. This is a major step in the merger process and there will be more to come. I believe, but I may not be correct yet, that OnePass is gone. I have said this before and I will say it again, the future of aviation, a world with only several large airlines and revolutionary e/q, is here.

Thank you,

It's admittedly pretty fugly (I liked the version they were running just before the switch) but the new site claims they're going to update it before long.

The partner award feature is awesome...

Available and seriously messed up.

My lifetime flight miles are back to zero when they should be close to a million and a half butt in seat miles.

Doing a mpck print-out of the new card (haven't received it in the mail yet) I don't see my Million Miler Gold status anymore.

They gave me a new random Mileage Plus number with a new formar when I had my Mileage Plus number since pre-1990. I still have my old paper card from way back when.

Everything is now in the Continental format with a new website that leaves a lot to desire when the old UA site with the old Mileage Plus number was working very well.

Considering that PMCO flights did not have First and Business Class, you're looking at a PMUA flight. The problem is with PMCO intercontinental flights.
