I'm trying to book a flight but UAL's website says there's no seat map for my flights. Does anyone have an explanation? Should I just call UA and talk to someone? Thanks for the help.

I believe it means that no seats are available on that flight. There are no advanced seat assignments, or there systems is down? At least that is the description that it says on the screen!
For whatever reason, it seems to happen when I am looking for tickets for ORD-DEN on their 777 flights and when trying to book last minute flights for UALs discounts.
I have called UAL direct and been able to book with them and get an assigned seat, probably depends who you get. Be careful, if it is an internet only fare, by calling and booking that way, you could lose the fare!
That is my two cents worth based on my experiences! If others know different, please correct me!

Modesto2,
Don't take this the wrong way, since I mean no offense; but did you actually spend more than 60 seconds browsing the UAL site to find what you wanted before starting a new thread here? It took me about 15 seconds using the "site search" function to locate the following hyperlink:
http://www.ual.com/site/primary/0,10017,1076,00.html
Here you can finf updated seat maps for the whole UA mainline and commuter fleet. Hope that helps.

I believe that what he was referring to was after you select your flights, you can select your seats. On some flights, you get the message "seat maps not available for this leg." I think that is what it says!
I do not think he was just looking for seating configurations, but I may be wrong!

777fan, you are correct! My problem is that I tried to book some flights and when it prompts me to select a seat, the seat map doesn't appear. Thus, I cannot choose a seat on my flight.
However, TrueExpert, I appreciate your kindness in hypothetically correcting me. If that was my problem, others may have started cussing me out! While that was not my problem, your professionalism has been duly noted. Thank you.

You probably booked yourself on a Shuttle flight. You cannot choose your seats ahead of time for shuttle flights. You get your seat assignment at check-in. The only people who can pre-reserve seats are Premeir Executive FF members.

Oh, I misunderstood what you were looking for. The same thing has happened to me on Travelocity and on US Airways website. Once, it was just a matter of slow download time. Sometimes, while most of the page appears or the mini-window where the seat map is to appear opens, it takes a minute or two for the seat map graphic to pop up. Very frustrating! As the others said, it is possible the feature was temporarily unavailable, or perhaps if it is a shuttle flight, advance seat selection may be offered. If you haven't already, try going to UALs website again and see if you can select seats using your reservation or confirm number. Good luck. Regards.
