Quoting bthebest (Thread starter): Does this mean it has an operator lined up or with strong intentions? I can think maybe Emirates or (if they get them) Hong Kong Airlines.
I wouldn't say they have an operator lined up already but I would say EK has strong intentions for the A380 at Gatwick soon as they have 3 Triple 7 flights a day already. I wouldn't think Hong Kong would send the 380 to Gatwick anytime soon, the new flights this week on their A332 are not filling that well but time will tell I guess. Also with Korean starting up here in just over a month's time, they could be another possible candidate for the A380 here if all goes well in the future.

If VS ever gets them I think it is a dead cert that LGW-MCO will get the 380 for use during the peak season. In the not to distant past VS have been operating 3 x 744 on selected days in the summer and once the economy picks up a bit would imagine it will happen again.

EK A380 will be seen at LGW I am sure, possibly as has been said VS if they get them on the MCO esp at peak times. Other than that unless something changes I csnt see any other airline needing or wanting to use an A380 from LGW
