Hi everyone,

I wonder if anyone could provide me with the departure and arrival times of American Airlines, Continental Airlines,
Delta Air Lines, Garuda Indonesia, Northwest Airlines, US Airways and Virgin Atlantic flights at LGW during the summer of 2003 please?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks.

No, but you could get a pretty good idea of the times.

Not ideal, but a good starting point.

Thanks. The only thing is the times vary from one day to the next, sometimes significantly.

Am looking for scheduled times preferably.

Hi,

I have just found some old footage of Gatwick Airport filmed from the now closed Skyview on a VHS tape. It shows the South terminal occupied by many US carriers. It shows two separate occasions where I went to Gatwick in 2003, the first one shows a very busy South terminal with most gates occupied, but on the second one there doesn't appear to be many US Airlines left. I am just interested to know the times. Did the majority of the US carriers serving Gatwick leave in the morning?

Regards,

Yes almost all US airlines arrived and departed in the morning.

CO used to have an EWR flight which left around 15:00 that always parked at the gate closest to the skyview observatioon deck.

NW used to have a DTW which departed at around 14:30

AA had a DFW which departed around 14:00 too.

When DL had their short lived LGW-BOS service around 2001 that left mid to late afternoon.

Other than this they were all morning movements.

Sorry I dont have any detailed times.

CO Newark was definitely two flights per day in 2003 with no service at/around 1500. CO19 operated at 1500 in Summer 2002 on a 777 though and in Summer 2001 on a B767-400 also at that time. I don't have records back beyond 2001 to check when the last Conti DC10s left Gatwick but some time around 1999 rings a bell - long before Northwest ceased to terrify the local population (or anyone passing on a Gatwick Express train) with DC10 departures off 08R on a hot day.

DL Boston (DL60/61) lasted for less than one summer in 2001 with a 767-300 which used to arrive at 0545 and depart at 1310. Started on 2 June 2001 and inevitably ceased almost immediately after 9/11. Aircraft used to swap over with the 767 operating DL36/37 CVG-LGW-CVG every day in Gatwick.

Hi,

Here is the data. Apologies for the slightly rubbish presentation. Where there are more than one entry for a particular flight number the flight may have operated at different times on different days in the season or there is a clock change during the season.

Hope it helps!

Where it has the time on the left, is this the time it
departed LGW and on the right side is the time it
arrived at its destination?

For example:

VS,15,LGW,MCO,12:30,16:40,'744

So VS15 departed LGW at 12:30 and arrived at
MCO at 16:40?

VS,16,MCO,LGW,19:25,09:30,'744

And VS16 departed MCO at 19:25 and arrived
back at LGW at 09:30?

Thanks,

Yes thats right. Its about an 8hour flight to MCO less five hour time difference and you get a 4pm arrival.

Look at the VS website today and you will see that the VS15/16 and 27/28 to MCO ( and I am sure other places like BGI/UVF/ANU) operate pretty much the same times.

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply.

The times for the MCO and BGI flights are much the same times now as they were back in 2003.

If correct, some of the ANU and UVF times are very different from today, as shown below:

VS,31,LGW,UVF,13:00,16:45,'744

VS,33,LGW,ANU,13:00,16:40,'744

Does this mean that flights VS031 and VS033 departed LGW at 13:00?, as VS031 and VS033 depart LGW at 09:35/09:40 these days and it would seem a massive difference in departure times?
