Yet another addition to the increasing new European departure bank. Rome is joining the likes of Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Paris, Frankfurt and Milan with a third daily service, all of which feature very similar schedules. It is only a matter of time before Zurich, Birmingham and Moscow will join that list.

I dont think so BHX deserves a 3rd daily, DME though can easily sustain it and for ZRH, slots might be an issue.
BHX could easily support a third daily service. With the potential banning of PIA from the EU on the horizon again, I should think EK are looking at just how quickly they could launch such a frequency.

PIA will never get banned from the UK so dont get your hopes up on that. In any case your point regarding BHX and PAK is not valid because over 90% of the BHX-PAK market is ISB bound and EK's ISB flights are already 85% full on a year round basis so they cannot capture any additional high volume traffic with a 3rd daily out of BHX to ISB because they dont have the additional bilateral capacity allowed for it via DXB.
Since you're from Span itself, how are the EK MAD bound services doing?

I'm not hoping for anything. At the end of last year the EU safety agency apparently wrote to PIA expressing their concern at systematic deficiencies in certain procedures, with a decision on any action being expected in March. It the past few days it has been widely reported that the EU have withdrawn PIA's safety certificate and given them 2 months to bring their procedures in line or risk being banned from the entire EU, that's including the UK and EU overflights. This has been done before, with the exception of their then brand new 777 aircraft, so don't think it can't happen.

One ISB flight is a 77W, the other is an A332 I believe, so there you have around a 200 seat increase without additional frequencies. From what I have heard the 3rd daily is already planned, my point is that *if* the EU banned all PIA aircraft, this may be the trigger for EK to launch it or bring it forwards and would certainly see them throw the largest aircraft they can on Pakistani routes.

I'm afraid I don't know, my flag is Spanish from when I lived there and kept spontaneously reverting back to Spain even when I returned to the UK and changed it. Now I don't bother changing it when I go back and forth and have left it on Spain.
