Congratulation to JL. They are after all going to receive the jet well before the NRT-BOS launch. I also like the look of the C class seat and the same for the Y class too, although I can now see how it would have looked very narrow if it had been a 9-abreast i.e. QR.

Wonderful news! Thank goodness the BOS inaugural should happen as scheduled. I imagine there are a lot of sighs of relief being issued in Tokyo right about now!
I'll be anxious to see when the subsequent deliveries will be made as well. Seems to me something's supposed to happen in December involving another JL 787...

Quoting tinosky (Thread starter): Looks like JAL has released a statement on thier website regarding delivery of the 787.
Quoting GUYAIR707 (Reply 3): Any news on the problems they had with the carbon fiber peeling?
That was part of the incorrect shimming issue and it's been addressed on new-builds and fixes are being implemented on the already-completed frames

Is JL going to do any intra-asia flying first, before sending her across the Arctic to Boston? I'd assume the crews need to get some time in on their 787 before taking on a long haul to BOS. It's only a few weeks until BOS launch, right?
Next Flights: AS PDX-SEA-KOA on DH4/738 in F, HA KOA-OGG on 717 in Y, AS OGG-PDX on 738 in F

Congratulations to Boeing, JAL, and everyone involved. This is fantastic; as I have mentioned before, the future of flight is now.

I am now wondering how UA's 787 is going to stack up at 9 abreast versus the 8 abreast that JL and NH are using. If I have to fly Y, I will try use *A partner NH from the US to Asia if I can.
Maybe UA's J/Y class will be more affordable as a result of the 9 abreast.

When are we going to see a NON Asian carrier take delivery of a 787?
Congratulations to JAL, must say their colors do fit the 787 well despite what others say IMHO.

Air India appears next, with delivery slated for May. Then LA and UA, perhaps.

Per All Things 787, AI and QR will be the next new customers, with UA, LA, ET and CZ slated to receive their first planes this Fall.
