Reading about the Qantas incident in Bangkok I recall two incidents involving Air France Jumbos.

In 1985 an Air France B747-200 belly landed in Rio de Janeiro as the landing gear collapsed during touch down. Also back in 1992 or 1993 (not sure exactly when) there was another B747-400 severly damaged during a landing (or take off) run in Papeete (Tahiti).

Does anyone know what happened to these aircraft? Was the airline able to recuperate them?

They succeeded in reparing the 744 of PPT (at a great price however...) but I think they couldn't fly the 742 again.
