It looks great
Possibly the best livery to date on the A380
FRA has now regular A380 service from LH, SQ and KE
Sometimes QF sends its machines for maintenance.
In the future TG will also starts FRA service with the A380 and we
can expect EK to upgrade one of its three daily flights to the double decker

I was actually hoping to see more than five A380 operators in FRA. And I never would have thought we would have to wait until 2012 to have more than one operator here. Are there any other candidates for A380 service into FRA?

Quoting EK413 (Reply 7): I would say yes considering the load on the SYD-SIN-FRA route are usually full...
With Air Berlin a part of oneworld we might see a little increase although I already saw people booked TXL-FRA-SIN-SYD through Air Berlin before they joined oneworld. But all of the Air Berlin destinations out of FRA except TXL (BER) are leisure routes with low frequencies that are usually sold to German tourists:

Quoting A388 (Reply 5): Is that a good location for aircraft photography througout the day
Alas, it's hardly a good location at any time of the day. It's too far away from the main action at T1 and the only runway photos you might hope to shoot are of departures from 25L and 25C. Even landings on those runways don't usually work out for the photographer. The place is open from 10:00 to 18:00 from April to November, so you do not get good sunlight and essentially have to hope for overcast skies... The spots near the runways 18 and 07L/25R are better, but harder to reach.

I’m not sure if it’s the livery or maybe the angle in which the photo is taken, but it looks fantastic. I mean I never hated the A380’s looks in the first place, but I didn’t really consider it to be good looking either…. Now I’m starting to wonder if it’s reputation as the “Ugly duckling” is really deserved…

You're welcome. The KE A380 is scheduled to arrive at 17:45, so what you see in the second and third picture above is as good as the light gets at this time of the year. This A380 is also the first to use T2 (apart from the Airbus promo flight a long time ago), so the view of it is much better than that of LH's and SQ's birds.

I thought SQ started flying the 380 into FRA in 2011?
As for other operators: EK, TG, and perhaps QF. QR and OZ when they get their 380's.

No better place to be at than FRA right now (if only the ongoing strikes didn't disturb the picture...)
Quoting robffm2 (Thread starter): Also yesterday the visitor terrace a T2 re-opened. Happy spotting.
I was there too. Quite a lot of visitors and the weather was just perfect. To be honest I found out about the KE A380 coming in when I was already on the deck, so even more of a reason to call it a perfect day.

Quoting aloges (Reply 18): I thought exactly the same when I first saw one docked, but according to one of those little info touchscreens, it was using a gate in T1C.
Thanks for the clarification, didn't know that this part is actually belonging to T1 (just checked the official map and you are correct).
