AC Offer Vouchers

Was on an AC flight yesterday. Once again the IFE wasn't working. Happens about 50% of the time I fly with them. This time I was given a voucher with an apology note and a website to visit to fill out information and take advantage of an offer from AC as an apology. I filled out the online form and submitted and it said thanks your information has been submitted... What is the offer? What does AC compensate for downed IFE? Never seen this before. It gives no details on the webpage.

Interesting. I fly AC often enough and have never had an issue with the in-flight entertainment system. I use the system to catch up on episodes of Modern Family...

You will most likely receive a 5% discount offer that only applies to certain booking classes and only to the fare, not to the the fuel scamcharge. Basically useless.

I had this happen once, and IIRC, the website compensation offer was for 25 or 50 Aeroplan miles (?)

... and with the value of Aeroplan miles at 3 cents, the value of your compensation works out to $1.50 - lol!

same here....although I have yet to see the inflight map working, but at least the movies/pre recorded tv shows work so thats all that matters to me.

It certainly had its teething problems, but the map now works on all but the most rare of occasions. Any IFE glitch I have suffered was compensated by a 5% voucher as Wildcat mentioned above.

Don't buy a lottery ticket!

It has been a couple years since I have seen any IFE issues that could not be solved by a quick seat reset.

Usually I read a book. Much more educational.

I find the map function works less reliably on the NBs as opposed to the WBs. Agreed, the Thales system had a lot of teething problems, but the past 2 years or so it has been pretty solid in my opinion.

I agree about the map function. On every widebody I've flown it has worked, meanwhile I've only had it work on A319's when it comes to narrowbodies. Just my experiences. Other than that they system has worked perfectly fine and never needed to be reset during any of my flights. But I guess maybe I have been lucky.

Has anyone else ever been compensated by another airline for IFE not working during their flight? I'm just wondering what if any type of compensation is offered by other airlines?

I've done 4 flights on the EMB190 in the past month and the map has worked just fine!

I flew on Westjet a couple of years ago, BGI-YYZ. The IFE was not working, so a movie was offered ... at a cost ... if I recall it was $5.00. After all the money was collected using a credit card, it was discovered that this "service" did not work.

Passengers were told if they wanted a refund, they had to apply to Westjet head office, via their website. No one was happy!

Oddly enough, giving a beer in exchange, right on the aircraft would have been an acceptable compromise, but they said they could not do that.
