Will be competing with Spirit Airlines on the route.

Is this for European / other tourists trying to hit both Miami and Niagara? Or is it for BUF residents? Or both?

Don't forget it may be useful and cheaper for Canadians to cross the border to avail of lower fares.

As well as WN and B6 at BUF, which isn't too far away.

WN's unit costs are not in the same universe as NK/G4.

I'm curious to see how NK will respond. It looks like they only compete on AZALAS and FLLPBG so far...

Times are much better for Allegiant. Doesn't the flight for Spirit leave at some ungodly hour of the morning?

True, but they are flying the same city-pair, which does make them competitors

In addition, the fares on G4 might be cheaper, but factoring in the "convenience" fee and the bag fees, the price discrepancy between G4 and WN/B6 gets smaller.

I wonder if we will see some additional G4 announcements to generate some positive press, after all the negative carry-on fee publicity. Aside from the OAK announcement, it seems like it's been a pretty quiet year for them.

Not true, I just checked flights on both G4 and WN for August of 2012 for a Thursday-Thursday roundtrip and it is $185 on G4, and $270 on WN. Then, if you would do your bag online for G4 you would still save about $50 dollars. NK is $5 dollars more expensive then G4, and the flight times are horrid (Leaving IAG 2:30 AM, but getting a full day down at FLL. Then returning from FLL to IAG you would leave at 10:40 PM) So G4 still seems to be the winner on the route. Then, B6 is about $350, with a stop in JFK.

[edit, added on B6 pricing]

Interesting how G4 going right up against NK in this situation when they've said in the past they have been holding back in TOL because of NK in DTW. Perhaps they are finally going to get aggressive towards them.

G4 plans a big bash to celebrate it's 15th birthday.         The company was originally incorporated in California on Feb 20, 1997. They had to delay celebrating it a few weeks ago so I know the employees are anxious for the party to happen. After all of the planning it should be a h*** of a party with some nice gifts.

Probably mostly for

Quoting Flighty (Reply 1):
Canadians

though I'm sure the locals will use it as well. When I used to overnight in BUF the hotel was full of Canadians staying the night after driving from home to catch an early morning flight.
